O2 have just offered me a £50 discount on the £250 upgrade price; to leave £200 to pay for the handset. They also offered a £15 p/month discount on a £35 p/mth contract.

So I went to Carphone Warehouse, they offered me a £40 p/mth O2 contract with 800 minutes, plus a FREE P990i

No need to guess what I 've done, I've cancelled my contract with O2 and got a free P990i now

willo, can you please post more info on the deal that you got? how many txt messages do you get? is it a 18month or 12?

I went into cpw and they said that the free phone will only come with a tarrif of 50 pounds or higher!

cheers

I've just been quoted £50 on upgrade, phone to be released on the 30th October, and I can get it when I'm eligible, which is mid Nov...

... Do I have to wait or...?!?

A word of warning, my wife recently transfered her O2 billed by CPW contract away from CPW and back to O2 being billed by O2 . . . the reason? And I can't believe I'm saying this bearing in mind how we're all feeling about the excellent Customer Service given to us recently by O2 was extreemly poor Customer Service. Anythime she needed anything doing it seemed to take 5 phone calls, thankfully it wasn't very often but still . . .

Hi Azzeg,
the contract is for 18 months and includes 800 minutes talk time, 100 texts and 100kb (I'm totally underwhelmed!) of downloads and costs £40 per month.

The offer was from the Aintree store in Liverpool and I got the last handset!!

OK, had enough now . . .

I phoned O2 yesterday morning and placed the order for my phone, I then transferred over to another department to talk about data tariffs . . . later in the day I called back to get confirmation that the order had been placed and to get my shipping number so that I could track the delivery on DHL. That didn't actually work yesterday but I kinda expected that because it wouldn't come up until they'd collected the package.

This morning I checked again and still nothing was showing on DHL so I called O2 back to check the tracking number only to be told that I hadn't actually placed the order and couldn't have because the phone hadn't been released yet!!! They told me that the release date was sometime this weekend the the tracking number I'd been given was actually for the handset I brought 18 months ago which I brought and collected in store!!!

At best this is incompetence at worst I've been lied to . . . either way my PAC has arrived, CPW in Cambridge has the phone in stock so I'll be heading down there later today to talk to them about tariffs and handset costs, if they can cut me the right deal I'll be moving today (although as I said earlier I'm not a big fan of CPW so it'll need to be a pretty good deal even with O2's incompetence)

Sorry to hear that jodrell, I thought it was odd that I couldn't a handset talking to a helpfull operator and even telling her that someone had managed to get hold of one...I'm now waiting for the txt that my reserved one is in....after waiting this long I am going to see it through, I went into a CPW and he asked what deal I'd been offered and he couldn't match it, he even said it would be worth waiting for the o2 deal I'd got...good luck
