Sure the US felt threatened and attacked Iraq, but Iraq has NEVER had any capability of striking the US, the UN inspectors never found any WMD, the US didnt show any valid information to back up its case for war..
How do ppl know wat will happen in Iraq?
Easy! Look at Afghanistan nearly 2 yrs on, and look at it now...

YES THE UN INSPECTORS DID NOT FIND THE 4 BURIED CONTAINER VANS SOUTH OF THE CAPITAL WITH CHEMICAL LAB EQUIPMENT INSIDE THEM. TOO DUMB TO SEARCH. THEY ALSO FOUND SOME MORE AL-SHAMUD MISSILES WHICH SADDAM SAID WAS DESTROYED AND A VIOLATION OF THE 1991 TREATY.

WELL, AFGHANISTAN HAS U.N. TROOPS THERE SO IT MEANS THE USA WILL NOT OCCUPY IT FOR LONG. THEY STILL NEED MORE HELP. A COUNTRY LIKE THAT CANNOT BE ON IT'S OWN IT JUST A SHORT TIME. 2 YEARS IS A SHORT TIME. HONK YOU HORN IF HAS TAKEN MORE THAN 5 YEARS WHICH IS AN ACCEPTABLE TIME PERIOD.
MY LAST PARTING WORDS; JUST WAIT AND SEE BEFORE POINTING ACCUSATIONS!

@nyk_2702
You are simply being unrealistic when it comes to rebuilding a country. These are not short-term projects. You continually point at Afghanistan and say outside of Kabul there is no order. My question is this, was there real order before the coalition forces went in? And the answer is no. All of those areas have been and are still controlled by either ethnic tribes or warlords. The reason the US started in Kabul is because it is the capital of the nation. By establishing order, and re-cultivating an economy then can the stable government stretch its power and bring order and stability to other parts of Afghanistan.
In regards to Iraq, order will take time. Look at the Los Angeles riots, which happened in our own country and look how long that took to settle down. In fact the Iraqi people are starting to establish some order on their own streets. Keep in mind there are still some people looting and so forth but I’m sure that will be stopped very shortly.
About the WMD's, once again it will take time to search for them. You’re an educated person and you know this (To deny this would be foolish). Iraq is a large country and there are lots of ways to hide things that you don’t want to be found. As an example: money hidden under the mattress. Everyone knows about it. So why is it that my wife can never find my little stash of money? Sometimes the most obvious hiding places are the hardest to find.
oh and please dont tell my wife were I hid my spending money

The US' annual budget plan, or watever its called in the US included no FINANCIAL aid/loans/grants for Afghanistan, hence, Agfhanistan wasnt given any money this year. This is why I say Afghanistan this, Afghanistan that.
As for the WMD, the UN has been ther for months, and Hans Blix sed he was pretty sure Iraq was WMD free...
But on the matter of WMD, how come Arab states are forbidden from developing them ? I dont think any1 shud hav them, but how come the US tries to stop anybody that developes them?
How do we know its better for the US to hav them?

TO NOT BE ABLE TO BE USED BY TERRORISTS (GIVEN BY ROGUE COUNTRIES WHO HAVE THEM) ON OTHER COUNTRIES THEY ARE PISSED AT.
How do we know its better for the US to hav them?
SIMPLE, FOR THEY WILL NEVER USE IT IN ANGER OR HATRED TO ANYONE.
just wait and see

nyk> I don't know why you keep saying that US is not doing anything for Afghanistan. Below is a summary of what the US Department of State and its US Agency for International Development has done in Afghanistan since Sept 11:
• Helped two million Afghan refugees return to their homes.
• Provided food to over 10 million Afghans.
• Supplied seeds and fertilizer to over 140,000 farmers.
• Furnished 10 million textbooks and 6,000 temporary classrooms, allowing over three million
children to return to school; and
• Funded measles vaccinations for over four million children.
With the help of Japan and Saudi Arabia, the United States is rebuilding the highway that connects Kabul, Kandahar, and Herat. This road is key to restoring trade and commerce throughout the region. U.S. military civil affairs teams also have assisted by digging wells, building hospitals, and repairing roads, bridges, and irrigation canals. These troops rebuilt 49 schools in eight different regions.

You still think they would be better off with the Taliban regime still in control?
The US 2004 budget will give $2.3 billion in assistance to countries such as Afghanistan and Pakistan to fight terrorism.
The US 2004 budget will give $150 million to Afghanistan to rebuild their infrastructure, $150 million to rebuild their military, and $20 million to the peace-keeping forces in Afghanistan. (this is only the direct aid, Afghanistan will increase their economic growth from new construction and the presence of foreign personnel).
nyk> please check the facts before you open your mouth.

@ amagab,
again, u talk about hundreds of millions, yet the US was able to spend billions to bomb the hell out of Afghanistan, cant it spend that much on re-building it ?
Im not saying that the US shud pay for all of the damage, as it wasnt the only country to bomb, but since it was the largest partner, we shud B seeing billions of dollars, the money is there, just look at the $80bn Bush just signed for Iraq in terms of Military and other things...
They didnt even finish ther Job of 'combatting terrorism' in Afghanistan..
Wer is god ol' Osama and the leader of the Taliban ?
And on Iraq, something amusing..
The US has preserved the Iraqi Oil ministry, using soldiers to ensure nothing happens to it whilst Hospitals and libraries are looted... Is this rite ??

nyk> you are one unappreciative greedy bastard!
If you only take a look at the US Aid agency's budget you would understand how generous the US are.
The millions to Afghanistan mentioned in my earlier post is only for 2004. It is reaching $1 billion so far. The total amount that the US and other western nations will spend in Afghanistan will reach many billions. You have to realize that the US has the option not to give any money at all to Afghanistan and other Middle Eastern countries. Why don't you appreciate what they are doing?
Below are two links. I think you and other unappreciative people should spend a few minutes going over the amounts US spend on aid to the Middle East.

Regarding protection of the Iraqi oil ministry> income from oil exports is the key to Iraqi financial independence. Yes, the looting is a sad product of coups. However, there are not enough Coalition troops to protect all ministries, hospitals, libraries, and museums. Iraqi oil is prioritized because it is vital to Iraq's future as an independent flourishing nation.
