Try reinstalling the SynStation drivers.

BTW, you are using a sync station aren't you?
Other cables need different manufacturer drivers.

Hi

Yes, I am using the sync station that came with the phone.

Really weird thing is though that it says I am connected to com port 5 when I put the phone on the sync station, then not connected when I take the phone off.

So, no problems there....just that when I click on PC Suite to back up and restore or do anything else I need to do with it, all I get is a symbol with a blue question mark, and it says not connected underneath it.

Does the same when I try to open Image Editor...just shows a picture of my phone but says 'no P910i detected'

I would suspect:

1. Drivers:

2. Reboot phone and the PC and then disable the firewall and try again.

3. Try SE Restarter.

Already have the driver installed.

When you say reboot the phone I take it you just mean turn it off and on again. If so, have done that and re-booted the pc, and turned firewall off etc.

Still no joy

How do I use SE Restarter?...and where do I find it?

Really out of ideas here, mate
Could you by any chance, manage to post a screenshot of the connection properties ( The link with 2 arrows in the taskbar, that starts wriggling when the PC tries to connect to the phone) Just right click it and select properties...get a screen shot and post it here...lets see what it says

As for trying it on a different pc..yes it does work but it's no good on another one, I want it on mine

Apparantley after yet more research into this it would appear that McAfee is blocking the connection....and I need to uninstall it completely! I can't go doing that though and leaving my pc vulnerable! Any ideas on what I can do with this problem?

I am slowly getting fed up of this phone and only had it a couple of weeks now
