Normally, 8x AGP cards are automatically clocked down to 4x by the OS, but you may have a point. if his AGP drivers a playing up, using an 8x card might cause problems.

I think a trip to the PC repair shop would be more usefull, You've already bought a new graphics card only to find that the problem returned.
I really would get that motherboard checked out before you go spending more money on a graphics card

just my opinion but i would nt go to pc world they are expensive and really dont know much beyond the basics.
i d look for an independent comp trader who builds systems etc in your local area. h more likely to have the correct tools and also its there own business to tend to take a bit more pride in customer service and sorting the problem out rather than just trying to sell you some over priced under speced system
