This area is non existent. A huge area of opportunity.

's Marketing department lays dormant. Mean while Nokia and Moto's are the phone's of choice. ohhh and Samsung as well.

The T616 was a big hit here. No other model has done as well for in the U.S.

weird. without advertising its actually no use to launch there more se models. so u mean, since t616 nothing, absolutely nothing? but in us mobile newspapers, do they mention se has launched new models in eu, these are the new se models in asia etc

My understanding of why Cingular stayed in the 850mhz band is because they used to have a bunch of towers in their old TDMA days in that frequency range so it was easier for them to just 'upgrade' these towers to gsm than to replace them with higher frequency ones (I could be wrong on this). That is why the Cingular UMTS solution is going to also be running on 850mhz if I recall correctly. Better EDGE might have been nice, but I know of european providers who skipped EDGE entirely and went all the way with UMTS and HSDPA (Vodafone/D2).

As far as leaving for Moto - don't do it. I did it and I came back RUNNING to SE within 6 months. I had a Moto E1000 for that long and I coulndn't get rid of it fast enogh when I decided to get a K750 (it actually sold in less than 6hrs on ebay ). Motorola's contact management is pathetic. It reminds me of my old StarTac phone... And the fact that it BLENDS SIM entries along with your internal phonebook entries makes it almost impossible to find someone's number in a hurry.

I'm hoping that Cingular is in the process of negotiating some new phones from SE because as of a week or 2 ago there are NO MORE SE phones on their site They used to sell the S710a and the Z500a, but now neither one is available from them...

This thread reminds me of imperial vs. metric system...If Cingular is stubborn at keeping its 850 network while the rest of the world is on other frequencies, it will eventually burn them. There must be thousands of users like you who won't switch to Cingular because of that. I dropped them 3 years back because of their customer service and plan price and never looked back.

For SE, unless there is a business case to build a quad band for Cingular, they will just focus on Europe and Asia. TMO should have jumped on it though...but they seem to accept the fact that their cell phone choice is a joke. What a great opportunity would it have been for TMO and SE to use the bad press about the ROKR in their favor.

In the mean time, SE is doing very well with the W800 in China and elsewhere. It was even mentioned in their quarterly report. Cell phones are sold at a premium in China (at least) and there are more cell users there than in US now...so SEs business analyst can do the math... I was in China a month back and W800 was everywhere, with gadgets like backpack, external speakers and such...

Cingular will be offering the Z520a a the end of this month.

I have not heard of any other models for this year.

i just visited the u.s. se web, well, now i underastnad why are u so disappointed... which was the best selling se model over there? any official data about the marketshare of u.s. mobiles?

Hey! Just to let you know..... The reason they are not adding high end phones because they are expensive! They are so expensive, if the carrier is selling these phones and if a costomer breaks it acidently its expensive to get a new one for free! If the carrier is buying these expensive phones and replacing them for free the business will get bankrupt. Bye- KLG2992

Yeah, Motorola rules the American celfone market by heaps and bounds ! I am also wondering why the most-advanced 'military-warfare-nation' on the planet is so much late in mobile handset market-release Maybe is targeting the Asian and Indian market as these two are the most 'populous' nation in the world !

Motorola phones have a great design, but no is the best phone dude, Maybe in Us is a big leader sales, but the best market is europe and asia. the more advanced Telecommunications in this area is the key for S.E, maybe Some service Supplier in states need change to Gsm and open the market!!
