Since I wanted to get a cover from the same seller "fatmui" I e-mailed him after your bad experiance of an aftermarket cover.

Here is the e-mail I sent for him:

Hi There!

I've seen your w800i coverplates on e-bay and I was wondering if these are the OEM plates made by Sony Ericsson or is it a good quality copy made by an other company?

Thanks,

And his respond is:
Hi there,

As stated in listing, it's 100% ORIGINAL SONY ERICSSON W800i FULL HOUSING.

Cheers!

Tammy

Well, if you want to, go for it. And if you do, please examine it very carefully, and let us know what you think of it.

Are you going to get a full housing with buttons and all, or just the housing.

BTW, I found alot of glue strings all over my housing! Like, those hot glue gun type. Hence, why some people's housing fall apart because they used some sort of cheap glue. And I found glue in the outter crevices too that would need a pin to scrap off else you can see it.

EDIT: Oh, and mine was package very well, in bubble wrap and in an SE like box too. If you do get it, try to fine someone with a W800i, and compare with it.

I dont think its possible to get original housings from eBay. But www.mobilefun.co.uk do housings which are more likely to be genuine. Have a look over there before you buy.

Thanks, but unfortunately, I contacted them, and they said they don't ship to the U.S.

I have never seen a true original w800i housing.. they're really high quality fakes imo..

for example the w800i housing you buy from fatmui or cnn is good.. but the lens is silver not white...

The lens surround on my original Orange UK W800i is silver too.

To be honest I don't understand what the fuss is. SE are simply not going to be interested in selling single casings to end users, although I'm sure they sell these along with other spares to the big mobile distributors in bulk. I have bought casings from both Mobilefun and Blueunplugged.com in the past and they have all been original SE. In the UK at the very least if a retailer describes an item as "original OEM" and it turns out to be third party trading standards would have something to say about it.
Alternatively if you really need to be sure simply send the phone to your nearest SE service centre and have them replace the casing for you (I did this with a P910i before).

ISTR the bill ended up being around 30 pounds. This involved the phone being sent off to the SE UK service centre and being returned to me within 14 days. Did it through a branch of Carphone Warehouse so the postage didn't cost me anything either.
Only did it really because I was selling the P910i and wasn't comfortable replacing the housing myself.

ive bought w800 cases from both fatmui and cnn.cn, they were all fakes, i even bought i second housing from cnn.cn thinking it could have just been a one off, the second and third (from fatmui) have all been worse than the first one.
i ordered one from mobilefun but i canceled it because they emailed me telling me it wasnt in stock after i ordered it. if anyone has recieved a case from them please let us know if it is a fake or not !!
