I downloaded this newest version and had the same problem as Tervel. The program would fail at step 6, releasing the "c" key.
I did as he suggested and now it works just as it should, telling me my w800 already has the latest version of firmware.
Thanks for the tip Tervel!

No Prob, glad it works.
MaximusDM: Try starting from scratch. Delete everything you have downloaded, uninstall everything and make sure the folders are deleted (you might have to reboot after uninstalling to remove them) and then re-download the .7 version from SE and teh .7b version from this post. Try going over it again. Good luck!

Hello,
I am Vishal and I have had the most harrowing 24hours. After a lot of deliberation, I invested half my monthly salary in a new W800i. Things looked good for a day until I found out that half the files I transferred from my PC, either via Explorer or Disc2Phone, disappeared after I disconnected my phone from the cable. No, 'Safely Remove Hardware' didn't work either. After 4 to 5 hours of tearing my hair in frustation and watery eyed research on the net, I found out that its a bug in the firmware. Okay, so the next logical step is to update it. Last night, I downloaded the Update Software and the darn thing just wouldn't run on double clicking it. An hourglass and then nothing. Tried on my desktop as well as laptop but same thing, macromedia reinstall, java runtime reinstall, firewall settings, services!! Then, today morning I tried it on my office PC and it ran, wow, did SE update it within one night? But there, I couldn't get past the sixth step of leaving the 'C' key. Now, am here at your forum, newly registered and am going to try out the steps of overwriting the executable from the beta folder into the latest release install folder. This is the only way I can release my frustation, by narrating it to people who would understand it. Will update if the workaround worked. Until then, sleep peacefully at night SE.

Update after half an hour: It worked. The software worked. I haven't tested file transferring yet, but atleast I have the latest firmware. One thing, after installing the beta and the latest release and after copying the exe from beta into the latest release software, I had to reboot the system. Otherwise it kept saying something like wrong object in wrong container. A minor technicality but every detail helps the next person

. Thank you people at Esato!!
