i am afraid to say, by putting it in the washing machine it is now DEAD!

My mother done this also and it near ever recovered. The washing powder has just destroyed all working parts.
Dropping a phone into plain water is a different story altogether. You maybe be able to save it as i have saved several people phones after they have been in the toilet or a glass of water.

best thing to do is seal it in a bag with lots of those packets of silica crystals draws the moisture out done it to a couple of phones in the past and its worked
