stick the hd in another machine and reformat it, then do a secure erase or all data writing over it 7 times.
Or just buy a mac

Had this problem 1 time before. And at my end it was a defect Harddrive, AND i orded at that time a twinmos DDR Ram memory which doesn't work togheter with Nforce 4 chipsett.

this happened to my step sister and the way I fixed it was:
boot up the machine and then enter set up (think it's F2 button). then deselect all drives apart from the cd rom drive where your copy of windows xp is.
Now restart the computer and it should try to boot up from the cd in your drive.
This will then take you to the repair centre where more than likely you will have to reformat the HDD.
When xp has reinstalled itself reboot, go back into setup via F2 and re-select the other drives (HDD, floppy, etc)
This sorted my step sisters problem out, hopefully does the same for you!
