In Windows perhaps, but in MacOS X you just plug it in and it comes up as a Mass Storage drive right away with no intervening dialogs.

Are you joking me ?! This device costs nearly 500€, you can buy a decent
laptop for that money and we are talking here about technology years old,
not some hi-tech things that costs fortune, this is simple and very cheap
microcontroler but THEY decided to not include it because THEY want us to buy separate card reader and to just keep terorizing this awfull gum
thingy covering memory slot ... ah, those damn engineers ... or maybe
strategic planers ...

M600 has full usb 2.0 high speed, which uses M2 memory (like K800). So IMHO the issue is cost, and now that it's getting cheaper they are including it in upcoming models.
It's one thing to say make a usb key that has high speed support - it doesn't have any purpose but to transfer data so you simply could not get away with making them without usb 2.0 high speed support. But for a phone with less than a gig of memory you can still sort of justify the lack of usb high speed support.
A manufacturer won't resist including higher performing hardware to "force" you to buy accessories. All that would achieve for the manufacturer is declining sales of their handsets and loss of market share. OEM's will keep their devices as modern as they can afford given what they percieve as the end user market.
I simply don't believe that SE will risk reduced marketshare at this stage by trying to force people to buy accessories by dumbing down their main product.

that's only because MAC OSX has the drivers built in. In due course Windows XP updates will include drivers also. Despite the fact Apple are on the ball, K750 still doesn't support mass storage natively.
A usb key will load drivers automatically on any windows xp system, that is the point of mass storage compliance. K750 doesn't do that.
If it did, Windows wouldn't need extra drivers
