I did the same thing as you ~lozishere~. Din't want to wait for P990 anymore and went for N80. There are bugs.. reception is terrible at times and the software is limited, though not lacking if you look hard enough. But I've been able to take advantage of the technology it includes for some time now and while it's innovative and modern..

By the time the P990 comes out we may see a N83 with the bugs ironed out (to some extent) and then you and I are used to the phone and it's functions.. + we have alot of apps. When is the next P series scheduled??

I don't think that this is a bad trade..

I also strongly doubt that P990 will function 100% out of the box. Few phones do. And the more functions, the more bugs.

I've been reading this thread over the past few days and its interesting to see how many people are unhappy with the N series handsets. I used a few of these models early in the year and have to say they are rubbish! in fact over the past 18 months or so I havent seen Nokia release a phone that wasn't initially very very unreliable upon release. 6230, 6230i 6111, N70 to name a few. All of these handsets gave major trouble from day one- many were recalled!. Based on this, I'm not surprised that the N80 causes so much trouble! I'm of the opinion that it is not so much the new symbian platform but more to do with Nokias poor pre release quality control. Don't judge Symbian based on Nokia's performance!

I havent been impressed by the N series phone at all. I personally think that the last truely innovative Nokia was the 7650 and was expecting so much more from the Nxxx. But that is just me!

It's interesting to see that SE is going from buggy (k750) to relatively stable (w810, k800), while Nokia is going in the opposite direction...

Hi all,
Firstly i have disagree with a lot of you here i now have an N70 on T-Mobile with their Web N Walk tariff so have no need for wi-fi as can use as much data as i want on 3G. I have had this just under a month and no problems at all also as i use Yahoo i am able to use YahooGo with push e-mail and no complicated set up procedure and its faultless.

I have just had a call from SE that they have M600i's avaliable for delivery early next week sim free price of £329.99 and they are saying the P990i will be avaliable in August.

I concur, I've been using the Nokia 6600 and now the N70 for seven months and it is still the V2 firmware and the handphone works flawlessly.

HTH.

And the main problem with the P990 is wifi. It does not work. Se have always had a weak point in radio links which need lots and lots and even more lots of testing under different rf combination. They battled with edge , 3g , quad band, and now wifi .

You can't be serious...
Ericsson's know-how on these matters is huge!
You could pick any other feature/area to talk about, but surely not radio communications...

Buddy , don't confuse networking with cramped rf circuitry ! SE only recently managed to introduce Gprs/edge/3g quad band in a single device ! (actually can't think of a se model with all this but i am sure there must be one) Just try the following. Take any nokia (rf masters) and any se cell and drive not of town. Look on the nokia's rf signal meter and when it shows one bar take the se cell and try to make a call. Surprised ? In the workshop (if you are a rf comms technician you can simulate the test in the rf isolation room. This message was posted from a Nokia

re: SE

remember SE is a small company with a small R&D budget compared to Nokia. Nokia has 32% of global sales while SE is around 5.5%.
