Good news about Flight mode and being able to use more functions. On my W810i, I can just use music player.

it's great, but without use of pan in flight mode, I can't use my pc internet.

But still, excellent for mobile use.

In flight mode you have not access to internet , but can turn on Bluetooth in flight mode.

I'm not talking about the internet on the phone. I'm aware that the phone's internet is not available in flight mode, I'd have to be pretty stupid not to

I'm talking about using my handset to surf the internet using my home broadband connection instead of the phones own internet connection.

You could enable bluetooth pan without enabling the phone's 3G radio, but SE have restricted the feature.

you don't get it buddy. On SE phones, it's possible to use PAN to connect to the internet (both ways - computer use phone's internet, or the other way around - phone uses computer's internet). This uses BLUETOOTH, not GPRS (gpts is the phone's internet). Do you get what I'm saying? I'm using my computer to provide internet access to my phone that means the phone is not using the service provider, it's using bluetooth and my computer to access the internet.

So theoretically the gprs radio can be OFF, and I could still connect via bluetooth to use my computer's internet.

But SE have not allowed that use of bluetooth in flight mode. There is no reason the phone internet can't be completely disabled yet still allow connection to the internet via bluetooth. INFACT, I can connect to the internet via pan even with an inactive sim card, so it has nothing to do with the phone internet.

Well let's hope that PAN in flight mode is there in the next fw updates (if any). Fat chance though, cuz the network providers won't think it's cute, and SE might think this way too

PAN = Personal Area Netowrk

It's a way to create a network connection with another bluetooth device (or a computer with a bluetooth dongle).

You can use the PAN connection to allow the phone to access the internet pn the PC. You can also use PAN to connect a computer to the phone's gprs cpnnection.
