That's a really great camera, a bit big but it's one of the best hybrids out there! You can be a beginner and slowly evolve using the same camera. Did you go out of your budget?

depends on how much you wanna spend i suppose.
ive got a Canon 350D wth various lenses, which cost me just over £1000.
ive also got a Sony DSC-P200 which was around the £200 mark.
both are fantastic camera's.
the canon is more aimed at the "pro" photographer(altough i wouldnt call myself that!!)
but i use the sony for " every day" use.
both produce great images( sony- 7MPX canon- 8mpx)
so i can highly recomend both.
if youve got cash to burn,go for the Canon.
but the Sony is also a great cam, which wont dissapoint

Yeah, I have to agree that Canon surely is just one of the BEST out in the market . . . My Dad is into photography, he got his first DSLR last March - Olympus E-500/8-MP . . . he is aiming at a 10-12 DSLR next year ! Accdg. to him (as he frequents DSLR sites-DAILY

for the past year) . . . Nikon is the BEST to consider, it's the no.1 brand - Digicam in Japan at present, or let's put it this way . . . it's the most used digicam in Japan at the moment.

ive always considered Canon to be one of/ if not the best. but havent really had any ' Hands on' with other brands,
but the 350D SLR,is perfect for my needs, and i dont see any need to change for the next couple of years at least

Yup, I remember that my Dad was opting the Canon 350-D as well . . . he finally got the Olympus though, as some freebies were included, such as an EXTRA lens which already cost - US$ 250.00 .
