Did you do that just recently? Or is this eomthing you did to your W810 a while back?

Just curious to know if someone mentioned this was the thing to do a while back, as it would confirm that it's exactly what needs to be done to the K800 - although I'm already pretty sure this is the case.

Oh well, giving it a shot, running the K800 on Wotanserver now as we speak. Fingers crossed, will let you know how I go....

Geee, it takes a while for it to download from the server....

Done, but not done.

I've change the firmware using the Wotanserver server. It auto detected to use R1CF001 Generic Australia [Europe 2] which I used.

The update worked fine, and now reports R1CF001 prgCXC1250210_GENERIC_WI R1CF001

But Big Pond's 3G portal is still not redirecting me from the 2G portal, which was the purpose of the exercise. But I can access a little more content as it's detecting my phone as a K800i.

At this point I may ring Telstra again and see if they can help me try and work it out, but I believe it may be the case I may require a Telstra firmware, Like our "3" brothers who have the HUTCHINSON firmware.

Cheers,

I bought my k800i from ebay unbranded and can access three content with no problems. All i had to do was enter all the correct settings for MMS, Internet and Email and off i went. I did not need the three firmware. But maybe telstras different...

Thanks for the info Daisun.

I'll keep that in mind. Maybe I need this so called "Bigpond Menu" thingy installed?

Well i just checked on the telstra website and it doesn't show that the k800i is out yet, but three on the other hand are selling this handset. My suggestion to u would be to either call telstra or just wait until it comes out and then find someone who has a k800i from telstra and compare the settings.

I really doubt that you need a specific firmware to access their 3G website it would seem to be too much of a hassle for telstra to do this when they can just simply do what three have done and just enter their settings.

I know Crazy Johns is selling them, and I believe Telstra Shops (not Telstra online) are also selling them, so I guess it's just a case of finding some one with one.

But I did visit the Telstra configure page for the settings, and the K800i is listed and it sent the settings to my phone.

http://configure.telstra.com.au/

I wonder if it's an account problem as I moved from a GSM account to a 3G account.

UPDATE

Hi Guys,

Well after trying everything to get this to work including firmware update with no luck. IT'S WORKING!

For no reason at all, the 3G portal started working today. So must of been a Telstra issue with the K800i.

Anyway happy to report, that I now can't fault the K800i on the Telstra network

Cheers,
