Patience!

I think a lot of us have been more than patient

There has only been one high-end release this year and that was announced last year. We'll have to start making our own at this rate...

I agree in principle, yeah, but a year ago peeps bitched that SE didn't have hundreds of models with only slight differences (like Nokia), because of the lack of choice.

Now they do. The real question in my mind is SE gonna front up with hardscreen UIQ3 devices, or are they betting on the multi-tasking JAVA VM in non-smartphone handsets to carry that market segment?

@max_wedge

I think smartphones, hard or soft, are still pretty niche. It is my guess that imaging will still be at the forefront of their strategy.

The Cyber-shot story hasn't even moved on to the next chapter as there has been no other Cyber-shot handsets since the K800i. (Remember what said about replicating the success...)

It is my guess that consumer led imaging devices coupled with some interesting wireless apps - i.e picture blogging - will continue to make appearances as these features are easy to market and are interesting for the end user.

some great and valid points here,i agree with most of you that they have really focused on the walkman brand too much and need some high end imaging devices which i think will come next year.Just gonna have to wait that bit longer coz i know if i get a phone now SE are gonna announce something good.

The phone of my dreams is like a walkman/cyber shot phone in one single slice and god looking phone. But i dont think se will do that.

Its exactly what i would like too... and make it a smartphone too!!
I think will only get me excited now if they release a phone with a cybershot cam, good video quality (qcif no more!), walkman interface and memory, symbian os, wi-fi and a great screen. Apart from that it will always be cam or walkman, a ordinary phone without smart functions and one step behind nokia N series. If released a phone like that some people would be giving up even a N95 for it since always brings great ease of use, software and design to their phones.

I'm really not that bothered whether the phone is Symbian or not.

Thinking about it, all I'd want now is a bigger screen and maybe TV-on-the-Go. Oh, and more 3D gaming he he

i hope SE doesn't focus to much on branding and fashion phones.
they grew up with making the best phones with the most features. competition is getting harder with nokia pushing, but if SE should focus more on marketshare and fashion, then they could lose alot of good fans.

No reason for not to introduce a \"fashion\" line (e.g. Z610i), in addition to their entry-level, , CyberShot, and SmartPhone series

Then we can have our cake and eat it, too
