GPRS
ganito yon:if you want to send SMS over GPRS then you won't have any need for the SMS center numbers. right? (syempre GPRS nga ang gusto mong gamitin eh)

Now, if you have set SMS access by GPRS and removed ALL your SMSC #s, and your _network supports SMS over GPRS_ - then you can send all the SMS you want.

Otherwise even if you set your phone to send by GPRS and your network doesn't support it, then it will go through the SMSCs - ergo, chargeable.

Kausap ko ang techies nila kagabi, ang sabi:
1) GLOBE doesn't support SMS over GPRS _yet_
2) I was mis-informed by the CS rep when they told me that I can send SMS over GPRS (not via SMSCs)

stay cool.

Excute GPRS, wala pang definite amount kung magkano ang charging for GPRS access sa Globe Telecom kaya as of today, Access via GPRS are still free of charge. Syempre kung magsesend tyo ng SMS via GPRS, that is totally Free. Do you get my point? Imbes na magbabayad tyo ng P1 kada SMS, nagiging free na ang bawat text natin dahil we used the GPRS access.

Thanks Gowin sa info, but before, I can send SMS via GPRS. Ang CS Rep kasi ng Globe ay wala namang alam yung mga yun regarding sa GPRS feature (GPRS via SMS). Kya I dont believe them na they still did not support the SMS via GPRS because I already tried it before.

setting your phone to send SMS over GPRS doesnt mean that your network supports it.
i think the phone falls back to SMSC if it can't send your SMS by GPRS.

to test my theory. why don't you remove your SMSC numbers then try to send a message to see if you can send one. kapag pumalpak, that will prove that you're still sending via SMSCs.

i think the logic is simple: no SMSC, therefore SMS is suppose to use GPRS. pag ayaw, eh di confirmed that Globe doesn't support it.

ok?

GOwin, tnxs for the info. But i try to remove the SMSCs yesterday and I tried to send SMS via GPRS, I found out its okey. But my counter counts that text message. Before, I think last week of December, when I send SMS via GPRS, the SMS counter didn't count that text mssg., unlike now.

Please see my post about the Smart GPRS settings here http://www.esato.com/board/viewtopic.php?topic=618&forum=14&0

If you're a pre-paid subscriber, you can't use GPRS.

SMS over GPRS for Smart does not work.
