I completely sympathise with "jung", it must have been terrible.
However, "DC:UK" you're just as bad as the muggers. Your "revenge" attitude is part of the problem faced by London and other cities in the UK. There seems to be a constant cycle of "yobs" perpetrating endless acts of crime and anti-social behaviour.
If people would avail themselves of the legal system, much of this senseless crime could be averted.
Whilst I was at Uni, one of my friends was mugged. I gave a witness statement to the Police (as did my friend). The perpetrator was apprehended the next day. He was eventually sent down for seven months. I would say that is a better result (for me, and society at large), than some "revenge" attack, which would provoke a further downward cycle.
I agree that violence shouldn't be the answer and the legal route should be the first point of call but the legal system is flawed when it comes to youths. One of my collegues in work has just bought a house and every night a group of 10-15 lads sit outside the house and smash the windows. He has had to put bars over the windows but they just poke things through and break the windows still. He has reported the lot of them to the police but they say they need proof. Problem is, they all wear hoods and scarfs over their face so you cannot see their whole face! All the police do when they see them is tell them to "move along".
My friend has two choices. Live with the constant destruction of his property (which is now more than he can afford to repair) and hope one day he can catch one in the act and prove it to the police or make sure these 'kids' understand that their actions have consequences!

yeah, that works, can work both way tho. btw jung i thought that was wise of you, fighting back a group armed with shanks isn't worth it, sometimes its better to lay low.

They probably had the IMEI changed (that is how the phones are blocked, via their IMEI number). This is illegal to do so reputable phone shops and market stalls won't touch stolen phones.
