no it's kind of the opposite
I want 3.5 mm in to the phone, not out.
The cable fits to the well hyped Tivoli Audio Speekers and other portable speekers.
I also wish SE could work together with companies like KOSS to make them deliver for examble Sporta Pro with short cables to plug into the SE handsfree cable. Bt I guess that's not very likely

Good thing I got my soldering iron to make a KOSS/SE handsfree!

Sorry kimi, P990 uses fastport too.
Sony's always been known to use proprietary software and hardware (a la Betamax). That being said, I too wish that SE phones had 3.5 plugs.
I think however, that SE's doing it for two reasons:
1. Increase revenue by forcing people to buy fastport headsets when their original ones break
2. More importantly, I think we're moving more and more towards BT. While it IS true that quality and battery life is slightly lacking at this point, I think it's safe to say that both areas will improve as we move forward into the future. As that happens. I think that perhaps wired headsets will be a thing of the past.
Of course, in the meantime, I'd love to be able to plug some Bose and B&O headsets into the phone. Of course.....sound quality in a phone isn't great anyway and perhaps getting such crisp sounds might actually detract from the overall musical experience =)~

personally i dislike fastport for the fact that the connector can come loose in your pocket, playing your music out loud.....and always at the wrong time!
This is true ... its happened to me before but only twice with my w810 wearing dress pants. My suggestion stop wearing tight jeans or in dress pants try to wear chino's as pockets are usually wider & more loose to prevent this, seriously.
