@bangsters,
You really can't compare the P910 to the P990 as although they are both P series phones the newer version of Symbian has lost a lot of the qualities UIQ2. UIQ 3 is no where near as fast stable or customisable as UIQ2, it is slow and just read all the posts on this forum as to users experiences as whilst some are happy and have their phones working well many others are not able to and have many problems. If you are happy to get a work in progress and await fixes then maybe you will be happy with a P990 if not don't even consider the P990. But at the end of the day only you can decide what you feel will suit your needs best.

Again, don't know about those unhappy users but this delighted user can tell you with all sincerity that P910 (which I steal dearly love) is a real toy comparing to P990. And UIQ3 is for me fantastic improvement. What is true and can't be denied is that one should have considerable knowledge about using this phone due to lack of RAM.What I want to say is that one do need to use swiss manager or task manager and check available RAM on regular basis, and restart a phone once in a while. That is all considering 1001 P990 bug stories. If you don't like to do that than I agree you shouldn't buy it, but if you are willing to do that extra work you will be absolutely delighted with amazing features and capacities this little beauty will offer you. And new frimware is yet to come.

@dogmann.....i see in your avatar an M600...how is it? do you like it over HTC TYTN? It's a lso UIQ3 right? So it should perform just like the P990 minus the camera and wifi? Or are there major differences between the m600 and p990 and w950? COz from my understanding, only the wifi and camera for p990 and 4GB ram for w950

@bangsters,
To be honest i am very disappointed with UIQ3 i find it to be very slow and no where near as customisable as as UIQ2 was. Currently i am only using it as a Music Player with the HBH-DS970's which it is excellent for and some voice calls. Am awaiting another couple of updates to see if it improves otherwise it is just a Music player to me with some voice calls. I really do love it size and looks but the touch screen outdoors is a real pain to see clearly, and as i said before just find it painfully slow to use although it is stable with no crashes freezes or restarts to report.So far have not tried the TyTyn yet but have heard both good and bad things about it also.

I don't really understand some of the complaints against UIQ3, and in particular the M600i. I'm using a Vodafone branded version, which according to most people here is supposedly crippled and certainly an older version of of the software (R4A rather than R9A) but I find it very fast in almost all tasks and a vast improvement over UIQ2 in virtually every area. The only thing that seems to take longer is opening the browser, which is obviously a software issue (it seems to be connected with the password save feature - don't use that and it's quicker). Everything else is faster - for instance deleting emails takes a second now compared to 30 seconds in UIQ 2, opening the music app - and indeed doing anything in the music and media apps - is far quicker now with no more "updating list" slowdowns, all the other apps are quicker to load, and you can switch between them much, much quicker using the built in task manager (a first for UIQ).. bluetooth transfers are much, much faster... it multitasks better as well in my experience. It made me laugh the other day when, after having gotten used to the M600, I went back to the P910 just to root through it for some contacts and files, and decided to play music in the background - of course the P910's music player just shut itself down halfway through a song because the P910 just can't do that very well, although I was already taking it for granted from the M600.

It may be that Vodafone have actually improved the performance of the M600 over standard versions, and certainly the M600 is more stable and usable generally than the P990 at the moment, but this will all shake down through software updates in the coming months. The point is, UIQ3 is in my honest opinion a vast improvement over UIQ2; it's not perfect yet but it's definitely headed in the right direction.

Totaly agree with you regarding UIQ3. As I already said UIQ3 is fantastic improvement for me. No more "updating lists" for pictures and music files etc, etc not to repeat what you said.

@koto,
I really don't get your last comment yes the picture gallery is fine but every time i start the Media player it insists on trying to search for new files added which in MO is a complete pain. Maybe UIQ3 to you seems fast but compared to S60 3rd Edition it certainly isn't and i find it painfully slow to do anything. The new scroll wheel is barley functional scrolling takes for ever on Web pages and is tiny so clicking it is far from comfortable or easy IMO.
But hey if you are happy good for you unfortunately i am far from being happy with it.

You can turn this off with the p990. i presume its the same with yours if it is go to media player, settings,preferences,files and then file update, change it from automatic to manual. this will stop that annoying checking for new files.

You don't get my coment simply because you don't know how to do it, but as I see adz21 gave you the answer.
The more I read your posts the more I realise that your comments are purely subjective and founded on personal taste or preferences. For example I use stylus for browsing and it gave me confort of a PC. Write know I write this while 20MB media file is downloading in the background so how can I won't be happy.
0ne thing I can't comment and that is your Nokia speed because I don't own one. But I am sincerely glad if you are happy with it.
