I get what you mean, it certainly can be quite annoying to have your high end equipment failing on you. Anyway, you should seriously consider the HPM-70, I'm pretty sure the build quality would be better than those generic ones, though it's still too early to say for now. As for the adaptor you mentioned, it must look something like this:

That's true, but Spindizzy did mention that he was looking for something that didn't have a wire or mic, so that's probably what he needs. Anyway, I think you should get a HPM-70, it's probably worth it.

That is exactly what I've been on the hunt for. Doesn't ship to the US though so I'm bummed. The one I use now is similar but has a short three inch cord that connects the the 3.5 port to the Fastport adapter. Works fine but like I've mentioned I've had to replace it on the average of once a month at about $5 a pop.
I don't mind having to yank it out to make a call as it's not usually an issue as I let most incoming calls land at voicemail when my music is thumping. That and anything with a mic built in just seems to heavy for everyday use.

Yup, I've tried the adaptor you are using now before too. The problem with these generic ones is the build-quality. Of course, I'm not expecting too much for the price I'm paying, but I would have thought SE would come out with their own versions by now. Or better yet, why not have them built-in? I really don't see why it can't be done. Having the 3.5mm jacks built-in would also free up the charger port for us so we can still use our phones for music while charging if we really have to.

Well, I thought the adaptor in the picture was a pretty good idea. Good enough for me to have bookmarked that thread anyway. Pity it's too much of a hassle trying to get it. The seller doesn't ship overseas, so I haven't tried it personally. Still, I think it's a really good idea, cos this way, we can basically use any earphones we wanted. Like you, I'm not too concerned about someone calling in the middle of my audio playback. I can either disconnect the adaptor or just reject the call, haha... Glad you appreciate the dark humour in my signature.
