You guys seem to have a different phone from mine! I use mine everyday and use many of its functions (syncing with Outlook, checking/sending emails, surfing the net, listening to music via my bluetooth headphones, connecting to satnav/in-car handsfree, using Wayfinder, etc.) and in the weeks, probably months, since I upgraded to the latest firmware, I have probably experienced one restart. I accept that battery life is marginal (but just about acceptable and fine if 3G is turned off), there is a short delay when opening apps (but be reasonable guys, this software is far more complex than standard "dumb" phones so a delay to load software is a small price to pay) and RAM can still be a problem but Swiss Manager Pro can sort 90% of the problems out automatically and the rest manually. I think many who complain just expect everything - a slim phone packed with features, great screen, instant responses and yet have endless battery life and costs relatively little (can be free if you take a contract). Be slightly more realistic and I'm sure you won't be so disappointed. I fully accept that previous firmware releases were not highpoints in SE's history!!

@gseh88,
Why would i want to turn off 3G on a 3G handset that just makes no sense and i really don't understand how or why this is even being suggested to improve battery life. I also said i had no crashes or freezes but to say this phone isn't slow is a joke, people complain that S60 2nd Edition is slow well compared to UIQ3 it's lightning fast and S60 3rd Edition is even faster and still improving. The main reason i sold this phone was not due to crashes or freezes as i had none it was the fact that it was so slow in everything it does from start up onwards that was the deciding factor for me. As while it might be a great looking phone with a huge spec sheet for me it certainly fails to live up to that promise or even deliver satisfactory results.

And last: The ridiculous message: "Your phone has been restarted to improve performance."

@ Marc - I'm getting 4-5 days battery life with my M600i now, which is exactly the same as my P910i before it (if not a little better) and that's without turning off 3G or trying any similar measures, so I really don't see what issue there is with the battery. I expected this phone to be significantly worse than the P910 since the both the battery and phone are physically smaller, but it's not been the case at all - they're easily comparable. The M600's hardware must be a lot more power-efficient.
As far as slowness goes, I can only assume the difference between firmwares must be immense. Yes, startup takes a little while, but once it's up and running my Vodafone model is extremely fast, and far faster in virtually everything it does over the P910. The single exception to that is opening the browser, but even that's acceptable now since I realised that it gets a lot slower if you use the "save username and password" feature. As long as you haven't used that, it's quite reasonable, just a couple of seconds delay - the only delay in the whole phone as far as I'm concerned.

Hi im currently on t-mobile and with their lack of good phones, im interested in the sony ericsson M600. I had a w800 before but one feature that it didnt have was password keylock. I have nosey friends and i dont want them going through my phone. I realised hardly any sony ericsson phones have this feature. Im wondering if the M600 has this feature. Can anyone tell me if it does??

@Boinng,
Firstly i did say whilst using the bluetooth headset that battery life was bad/ unacceptable and i only only speak as i found.
I am more than happy to sing its praises where it is deserved but also to criticize it's faults. If you are happy with the speed that's fine by me i most certainly wasn't even using the Calender IMO was painfully slow. But over all what made me get rid of it it was the speed or rather the lack of it that was my main reason.

Marc, I'm not disputing your experience, I just think there must be big differences between firmwares. The calendar in my M600i is synced with my office and contains hundreds of entries, and if anything it's faster than the one in my old P910, not that I had any problem with the speed of that either. Scrolling around dates is instant, there's no delay at all, it wouldn't even occur to me to that speed was an issue. Entries display immediately, and can be opened for editing in a second or less. I'm not trying to convince you that your phone was the same, but if mine is this way then they must be on the verge of fixing other firmware versions too.

@Boinng,
Mine was unbranded and running the latest firmware R9A, i can't compare it to the speed of a P910 as that was so long ago i can't remember. For me syncing with Outlook is done daily and one of the main features i use is Calendar.
The PC suite in no way can be consider fast and trying to sync over bluetooth took forever assuming it would even recognise the phone in the first place. The only thing i can compare it to is what i am currently using and the reason i got the M600 besides having previously used P series phones was i loved it's design and size. I had intended to use this as my main phone for Music, Calender, E-mail and some web browsing. But just couldn't do what i wanted to without problems and a lack of speed, as i said if you are happy good for you, i wasn't so i sold it's just personal preference.

I re-flashed mine and its been working not that bad for the last 2 weeks, major problems with HBH-GV435 and the M600i trying to connect but apart from that a lot better than before until yesterday, very important call and the phone mid call resets its self for better performance. Can you guys have a look on the back to see where your M600i was made, mine was made in China maybe that’s the problem

nokevin, as I said in the other thread mine was made in China too. I think you have a faulty handset, simple as that.
