I had a K750i for quite a while without any joystick problems. It also helps if you keep the joystick clean by removing dust using a soft brush.

The T610/T630 suffered from the infamous broken joysticks as well. My T610 joystick ended up as not usable due to the barely working joystick.

This is a user problem. The most of you guys are putting your phones in your jeans pocket. Did you all know that jeans pockets are that one place wich is collecting most dust? When the dust gets under the joystick than it will be non workable. The same is when you put your keys in the same pocket.

Yeah sure there will be some phones with that failure, but in 80-90% of the cases when i have service on it in my shop its because the user don't care to buy a case for the phones. On nearly all my service papers who comes back from the service point says CLEANED contacts..

What are your views on this?

I currently own a T630.
I have been reading (and seeing in action) that newer SE phones have problems with the joystick.
I have seen on that a friend's K700 joystick doesn't work!
I have also seen a K800's joystick on a store that allows you to try mobile phones, that the up and left directions where dead.

I haven't had any joystick problems with my T630.
The joystick is working like new.

This is what is worrying me now.
I might get a K800 for Christmas, and I'm worried about its statibility.
I'm worried about the joystick not working after a few months of use, and I'm also worried about getting a WSOD out of nowhere or after a firmware update.

Am I worrying too much or not...?
Reading here these horror stories about the dead K800s I think that I should be...
no shit: love the spelling of your post's title! And yeah, my k750's stick worked great for the entire warranty period. A week after: adios... Cleaning, exchanging... Nothing really helped! I was a real S.E.-man, but now I've married my nokia e61, and if we procreate, it'll be a nokia e70/n95. Unless se go for quality again (instead of releasing unfinished products - with the promise of ever 'better' firmware-upgrades... Like yet another blade for your gilette/or dress for your barbie...
