@miguel82:
I haven't tried the DR-BT10CX but it seems to be missing one good feature from the HBH-DS970: the caller ID/track title display!

Do you need to switch the phone off to place it on/off the cradle?
I also noticed that if I had already placed the phone on the cradle, I could not select 'file transfer' in the connection/usb menu...
Is this normal?
I have also managed to copy my excel sheet from my pc to the phone even without changing the connection from phone to file transfer...
Is this normal as well?
Thanks for your assistance and attention!

No
Yes, on the older FW version. Update to the latest and then you can change the connection type on the fly.
Yes.

@maverick7
Regarding phone mode/file transfer mode, file transfer is mostly intended for music (using Disc2Phone) and such, and what it does is let you access the memory stick like you'd use a USB memory. (This works in Linux and other OSes which SE doesn't support.

) Phone mode allows you to transfer files to the phone, but only to the 'standard folders'

Thanks for the much appreciated feedback..
unfortunately for those of us on cda/8, we have to wait for the updates.. and wait.... sigh..
I still love the phone, it's everything that I needed and more ...
Another question for all the gurus in the forum.... do you know where we can check which UIQ version a symbian phone is on?
I cannot tell between a nokia and se, although the structure do seem similar between my p990 and my friend's nokia n series...

@maverick7
you search on sonyericsson.com or nokia.com. is must say at specifications
se is using uiq 2.0 for p900 and p910 and uiq 3.0 for m600 w950 and p990
nokia is using series 60 1 to 2.x, series 90 and series 60 3rd edition. which phone uses what version, search the nokia's website

incorrect, the P990 white paper says...
and I see no reason why that should be the limit. SE only put that there because thats the largest announced so far.
