WM5 had lots of issues when it was launched...UIQ 3 is a new OS with only 6 months on the market...WM5 will also soon be replaced, and then we will see how problem free will be the first devices
Besides that both OSīs have theyr own advantages and disadvantages

The first devices will be
new devices. I wouldn't hold my breath waiting for HTC to release Crossbow for the Hermes/TyTN. WM5 AKU3.x is coming soon (end of Jan, according to the rumours, same time frame as the P990i update...) but that's it, I think, for this model.
And since my Hermes being the i-mate JASJAM, the first thing I did was to make it SuperCID. Since i-mate and HTC parted, it is quite unlikely that i-mate would care to release any updates. With SuperCID I can pick and choose ROMs freely.

in my experience, the p990i didn't impress much. the se pc suite hardly connects to the phone and am not able to transfer any files. the pc suite stopped workin all of a sudden. i am lookin for an alternative and simple application like myphoneexplorer. mpe currently doesn't support p990i . also this phone lacks usb mass storage support. is there anyway to upgrade the java version of this phone? currently java apps cannot access phone's camera and its really annoyin that i cant seem to use the latest opera mini's photo upload feature.

I use usb mass storage on my P990 on a daily basis (or I misunderstand something here).

That's one feature that I know definitely is
not lacking in the P990i, but very much so in the Hermes, although there's a free driver called WM5Storage that provides this functionality.

My bad. I cant seem to get the usb mass storage driver to install on my pc. Is there any special method to get this to work?

I swoop my p990 with w950, loved the first one but i relied so much tht its memory problem put me off after 3 months, i let my sis use it rather than sell it for an abysmal price!

Goodbye to my P990i. Sold it as a trade-in for an i-mate JASJAM.
A major downgrade in terms of hardware as the P990i is far ahead anything available today running WM2005. But I "need" WM2005 so I made this choice.
I am saying goodbye to a good camera and an excellent MP3 player.
But I will NEVER part with my K750i. You would have to shoot me and pry it out from my cold dead fingers.
i give a damn abt everybody's opinions but trust me...a p series user can never do dis...!!..if a person who bought p990i and b4 dat was using p910i can never sell his p990i right now..!! tho i dont know about this guy...!!

@jingboyx:
That'd be the standard USB mass storage driver that is included with Windows XP.

I am touched that you actually give a damn. Or did I misunderstand what you seem to be struggling to say?
