I had a k300, k700 and k750 all with joysticks and never a problem. but with this k790 things have changed. sometimes it gets all wacko and unresponsive. all it takes to get back to normal is to lock the keys and spin it clockwise and counter-clockwise many times and it gets just fine. I wonder if there will come a time when it won't work anymore.
All in all, joystick are great when they work as intended, but if they go wrong on you, you'll start hating them. me, I don't want another joystick phone again.

I've had a few issues with joysticks, and so have my friends. I can't be bothered cleaning it out; there shouldn't be a need to really.
I reckon it'd be so much easier if SE just dumped them; it just gives SE a bad name in reliability.

I onced Played an RPG on my which requires joystick in moving your character. now, my joystick is unresponsive sometimes esp. the down, and left (most toggles). is it broken & needs replacement or just needs tightening screws?

if you own any of the phones then let me know how long you have had it and if you have had any problems and that will let me know if i should get a joystick phone or not as that experience with the w800 put me off them.
yes but is suppose if you play alot of games using the joystick then it will fail but if you treat your phone with respect then you shouldnt have a problem. mine have lasted 2 years

My K700's joystick failed after about 6 months, sometimes it worked, sometimes it refused... so after almost 2 years i change't it to a new, for 10 euros. Good as new
Also a friend has a K500, and it's joystick started to die too after a few months.
I've held the K800 in my hands, and felt how joystick... it feels pretty much like my K700's.
I think I'm sure I don't want another joystick SE phone, until they redesign the entire thing

My k750's stick was fine for 1 year and 1 day...
I thought it'd stay that way forever due to good care (never in a tight pocket etc.) or luck... But eventually it went "the way of the stick"... Though, hey, a year is probably not bad... Mind you, my work nokia 6680's d-pad gave up after 3, 6, and 9 months... And my niece still uses my 2 1/2 yr-old T630 without any probs - though she hardly plays games on it or browses the web etc... she actually, tsss... , uses it as ,primarily, a phone! Women... So much more practical!!!

I got a can of compressed air and gave the joystick a good blow and cleaned around it with a fine brush and its back as new now! I guess these new generation
joysticks are pretty tough but what I noticed is that they lack a foolproof way of protecting against dust and debris. The joystick on the K750 has open edges which lets in dust and debris right into the inside of the phone. I would imagine a solution would be to close the joystick with some kind of flexible synthetic skin.
Just my thoughts.

10 months since i use my w800 and no problems with the joystick at all. All i do is keeping the joystick from dust as much as I can protect it and it works excellent.
