it's usable... but compared to the rest of the smartphones out there it's lacking.. heck even the filemanger and video player in my k790 is more stable then the current UIQ sets out...
it's great that you truly support UIQ... you better send a few more emails and suggestions... cause the general cellphone community is not please with UIQ 3

Back to the topic...i was just informed that HanDBase for UIQ 3 is on its final beta stage. It will adress another gap on UIQ 3 software library. Call Recording software is also on the way (Ultimate Voice Recorder)
Yes the current library is not perfect, although there is great software out there, but my point is, it will be much better during this year

you are back with that, and i have to tell you, again, to read the M3 thread...i have no problems at all playing great quality videos in the p990, and its not only me...comparing it with the k790 must be a joke...if you want, iīll make a video of my p990 running a movie at 30fps with subtitles, amazing quality, with no problems at all
you, has self-proclamed voice of the "the general cellphone community" should pay a bit more attention to what real P990 users are experiencing, when they donīt buy a phone just to bitch about it after

mmm ive read through this rant and i guess its all starting to piss me off. The P990 is a great phone but it has its many flaws! Software wise it does what i want it to so far although it does crash.
We have to rember its a new device and a lot of us that bought one already knew there were gonna be issues!
I guess its a case of if u dont like the phone sell it and move onto another or like the rest of us just wait a little longer for more improved firmware.
I must admit i used to love nokia then i moved onto SE and loved the t68 then the t68i. Ive got the P800 and the P900. The P990 is better in many ways but i know its not perfect!
I remeber with every Pxxx phone ive had its taken time before software has been released so guys its a case of waiting !
Hope i dont get flamed for this !!!

If we talk about personal experience in my case it's far more than usable, it gave me what I want from the phone. And existing applications are very useful and professional. Wonderful and amazing phone in my opinion and experience. One can say I don't use this or that feature but it's simply not true cause I do, I exploit my phone daily very hard.
About general cellphone community....well in that case UIQ is soon going to die, lets wait and see.
I support people who don't except imperfection. In the case of SE and UIQ3 (specially P990) some issues should be raised and they did as I can see. But it should be distinguished from never ending and so boring rants about every single misbehaviour of ones phone or what phone should have but don't have.

yes i am back with that cause the k790a can play the same video files that are created out of m3 as the UIQ phones.. and they are "managed" better... i'm not talking about QUALITY.. the UIQ series has fantastic QUALITY the performance is serverly lacking though.. pause, resume, ff or multitasking with a video on pause is a true nusiance as it isn't stable /reliable enough
i can have hundreds of pictures, wallpapers etc.. on my k790 and scroll through the thumbnails with relative ease/speed and change the layout to a different grid 3x3 etc..etc.. but can't on the UIQ phones.. it just hads or has a thumbnail and info on the right hand side view (this is 1 firmware ago so let me know if the world has changed in UIQ)
lol the p990i specifically is not a winner.. most people i see on a lot of forums not this one.. seem to be merely settling with it's issues but are not truly happy with it... whereas you will see people claim that the k790a or n73 or whatever is the best SE/nokia/moto they've used to date... the p990i doesn't have anything near that effect at all.
have i lost faith in UIQ? no i want it to get better... i want them to improve... but i expect it to do certain things better then a "normal" phone after all it's a smartphone right?
