You are so right. One side of this forum are technical knowledge, help and advices one can get which is its main purpose and other, nothing inferior side iis communication skill one eventually accomplish.
About the topic IMO any attempt that could push UIQ forward should be welcome.

True, one day, UIQ3 will be 100 times better than it is today and it may end up being the best platform out there where everyone who adopts it enjoys the benefits that we, the first generation of users funded.

I like the way I am bieng told to calm down when I am bashing SE...

I think criticism is the only way to move forward with dinosaurs like SE. Thanks for the advice... But I am aware of the community spirit that exists here... That is not what I am campaigning against (look at the date I joined ). I am against being used by SE as a bank and then as an alpha tester. Why do people not see this?

So everybody who has come to this topic to defend SE agrees with the way they have BLATANTLY disrepected every developer out there?

I say again... Developers should be getting FREEEEEE devices to test on, and free SIGNING! Why should they have to pay to get paid? Sounds a bit backwards to me.

I like the way people bash me for trying to get more value for OUR MONEY.

Thanks everybody.

First of all thank you for accepting people's so called fine scolding, I really appreciate it, if that means something.
I fully agree on your above statement. I often think what in the world SE wanted with that signing thing. We didn't ask for it nor the developers. But that's reality and we can only turn back to UIQ3 based phone if we can't accept it. In my case that's not going to happen as I am truly satisfied with my P990 so let's see how we can make things better. The new fw in my case give me the feeling of a true P series phone but yes unfortunately together with new version of smp (third party app). So there is more room for improvement without any doubt, specially when it comes to memory management and memory leak issues so I fully support all the question people rise to SE regarding that.
From the other side people who are not satisfied have every right to change the platform and if due to that SE loose its piece of cake it's only SE fault.

signing is a way of controlling content. It's basically a form of drm. It has nothing to do with security against viruses, though that's the operators excuse.

The manufacturers use it to ensure they have control over application development.

A common excuse would be for controlling the quality of the software developed I suppose. Depending on how it's handled, there may actually be advantages.

@LisaCPS

This can only be attributed to the excruciatingly slow pickup in applications for UIQ3. Not because the BAD operators forced poor SE into this... I work for a large operator in the UK. and can only say that the arrogance eminating from SE with regards to the uiq 3 series is wrong... They are actively telling customers with these devices that there is nothing wrong.

I agree that their tone may be softening now... But was it really necessary to charge developers in the first place?

This has smatterings of we are too big to be told what to do by those idiots who buy our products... And we won't even entertain the gripes that developers have.

I must say thanks for commenting on the issue, and thanks even more for creating SM Pro... For without this software I would have left SE long ago. You fixed what SE should have done themselves... And it seems your latest SW (the one that disables transitions) is fixing another idiotic mistake that should have been included as an option in the control panel anyway.

Again thank you... You are truely SE employee of the year. That I truely have no doubt about.

If we can't fight for our rights then who will. I say all these things with a very heavy heart (I have been a strong SE fan since the Ericsson PH388), and unfortunately it looks as if the poor customer service of recent times is not something that can be fixed with a new firmware.

Regards
