Just to simplify, you can check below to see if your SE phone is branded, as well as the up-to-date firmwares.
M600: http://www.se-world.info/cda-strings.php?device=24
P990: http://www.se-world.info/cda-strings.php?device=21
W850: http://www.se-world.info/cda-strings.php?device=33
More: http://www.se-world.info/cda-strings
Obviously, there's loads more goodies in se-world.info. Just keep your German translator handy.

And to find out how to get the rid of the "operator-fluff", you could do worse than googling debrand sony ericsson m600 or similar.

@zyexx

I can confirm yours is a Singapore trade model. As for branding - none whatsoever. Why? Because all mobiles here in Asia are sold SIM-free and I'm not aware of any operator in Singapore that would offer a branded phone with service package. In Asia, you buy the mobile and then you buy a service/service plan. They are mutually exclusive.

As for SEUS updates, we'll all get them as soon as Generic APAC becomes becomes available.

I would just point out, that although it is good that they have updated the /8 CDA, at last, through SEUS, I think it is poor form to launch R4A04 fo Singapore when :

R4A09 has been widely available on /1 and /2 for some time now
R5A01 is Available in other Asian formats, (Taiwanese etc.)

AND

R4B03 Has been widely launched this week for /1 and /2

So WHY? have they only JUST launched R4A for /8???

My advice to anyone is still change to /1 or /2 because they really don't give a crap about the other CDA versions, it would appear.

Sorry guys but it is indeed good news for you, but with the disadvantage of still being way behind everyone else.

Your CDA is branded, whether your actual FW is branded or not I would assume so, but can't guarantee it.

Therefore every time you look to update you can only update if there is a /32 update available, which there hasn't been yet, and may not be at all.

Again I would suggest to ANYONE whether they have branded FW or not to change their CDA to /1 or /2 as they are the only ones which are adequately updated. Others are updated but much more infrequently and usually, as with the case of /8, about 2 or 3 FW's behind the Generic.
