How can I cheak the version of EROM on my phone?

They say it is 'free' if you flash your phone for 1 credit.
PS - do I need to have a CID51 to do the EROM update? Not sure if I want to upgrade yet.
I think you mixed two different things here. You are talking about Update EROM CID. This take 1 credit. If you want to upgrade from R1ED EROM CID49 to R1GB EROM CID51 you need to update your EROM CID from 49 to 51 first before you can install R1GB (or newer) firmware. So updating from R1ED to R1GB take 2 credits (update EROM CID first then Finalize). Now Kulan has make it that it take only one credit but you have to finalize your phone within 24hours after you update your EROM CID (Kulan still pay twice to SE).
The update EROM VERSION (from R3A011 to R3A016) is still free. It used to work even if you don't have credit with kulan (use kulan/kulan as login/password). Now, I don't know whether you need active credit (at least has 1 credit and use your own login/password given by them) before it can work. Notice that if you update EROM VERSION, your credit will not be used up. So if you got just 1 credit, it will still got 1 credit after you update EROM VERSION.
Kulan has disable manual update EROM CID since it confuse ppl and make it automatic with finalize if your phone has EROM CID49 and want to flash with EROM CID51 firmware. Notice that it seems to have 2 update EROM option in the client and one is grey out (the right one)? The left with red letter labeled EROM update is updating EROM Version (free) and the disabled right (greyed) labeled EROM CID Update is manual updating of EROM CID that has been disable to stop confusion.
From now on if you want to flash from EROM CID49 R1ED (or lower) to EROM CID51 R1GB (or newer) just choose finalize and a window will pop up and ask you to update EROM CID, just say yes and 1 credit will be taken. Now the phone should automatically reboot and then finalize the new firmware. If not you just reboot it yourself (unplug, took batt out, and replug USB cable again) and you have 24 hr to finalize your new firmware (no further credit will be taken). I hope that is clear enough!
Please read more carefully and make sure you know the difference between EROM CID and EROM VERSION!

Try running SEUS to update your EROM CID to 51 for free. Then, flash by using Wotan to the latest f/w. Pick up the CDA that you want. No need to spend 2 credits. Good luck.
