Sorry missed a bit out!!

The handset was upgraded BEFORE the contract was renewed. Therefore the handset still belonged to Orange. In other words before the 12 months.

Hi all,
This is indeed an excellent thread and is opening up a can of worms many may not of been aware of. All i can say is i now and for quite some time I tend to only buy brand new Sim free phones as it really is the only way of being safe unless you really know the person you are buying from reputation is beyond question. A very sorry state of affairs and i wonder just how badly this is going to effect the trading of phones and their 2nd hand value? also what are we all you going to do with our used handsets if no one will any longer buy them?

Marc

Most of my mobile phones are BOUGHT - 2nd hand . . . roughly about: 65%. Been trading fones for 4 years now . . . as much as possible, I only will only be gettin' my 2nd hand units to a certain seller, my friend for 3 years now, so if ever I will be gettin' a BLOCKED one, it can be replaced . . . gladly, after been exchanging about 50-60 (pcs) of 2nd hand fones, not even ONE was blocked or DIED while in my USE . . .

At my end . . . we are a BIT lucky, as if ever we'll be gettin' a BLOCKED fone . . . it can still be USED by simply changing the - IMEIs, it is very common in mobile phone shops here . . . though they can only service handsets which are already about 2-3 years being sold in the market, NEW models cannot be replaced though (IMEIs) . . .

In britain changing the IMEI is illegal, although used in the right way it could serve a purpose.

When my old 7110 burn't out when i was surfing the wap on it years ago I took it to my local NOKIA centre,

they couldn't fix it so they gave me one that looked totally new,
they put a orange flip on it and I told them straight i wasn't on orange lol and they changed the flip ...

that phone lasted a while till I lost my temper and flung it up the wall

I didn't registar it with 02 but wish I had to see if it was a refurb
