I remember now! I cannot hand write numbers except the number 1. Also when I go to notes then the drawing pad, once i use the eraser I cannot go back and start drawing again. I have to restart a new note inorder to start drawing again.
I'm not sure if you have this same problem but i have a feeling that this is another thing wrong with our firmware or firmware update process. Just a thought, thanks again.

Oh ok nvm then I guess it's just my phone then? You can receive email messages fine then? That's good, I guess I'm just doing something wrong. Thanks again for trying.

you can't hand write numbers from 0 to 9? you know you must write above the right arrow, right? and under the arrow you can write words and in line with the arrow, you can write words with capital....

If you don't get any errors about certification, and the Gmail is just timing out... then suspect that it could be your network provider...depending on what you are running and type of account it could be that it is just not allowing you to connect.
(You did setup Gmail Account to allow POP access didn' you using web/browser access page ?)
Try setting up Email using different free system and see how that goes. Lots to choose from.. might even be one from you phone contract supplier.
On the other hand it might be something else ... has it ever worked ?

I have gotten no errors when connecting to Gmail to receive messages. When it is complete seems to have connected and disconnected fine, but i don't have any message in my inbox.
The reason I'm trying to get the email client on my phone to work is that I LOVE the fact that it can connect to GPRS, download my email then disconnect from GPRS. Other programs connect to GRPS, download mail, then stay connected to GPRS draining my battery.
Could you suggest an email client that could do just what the default can do? I'm sure they are out there but i'm not sure what they are.
And as a side note, Everything else seems to be working fine EXCEPT the standby ICON issue and the EMAIL client. THe email client NEVER worked before.

How do you know the Gmail recieve is going ok if you don't get any email in the Gmail client inbox ?
What I was suggesting was to sign up for a Free POP email address (take your pick) and then set up another Email client account with all the setting etc, then see if that works ok. You can have as many client account on the phone as you like, just use/sync as required.
Does the java version of Gmail work for you ?

Thank you for your help Simpson, I will give these a try. The Java version works fine. The reason i want the default mail client to work is because I like that it has scheduled mail checking time. That's the feature i want most.
I'm going to try what you have suggested and we'll see what happens.
If you could help me any with the icons I'd appreciate it too! Thank you.
