Well size wise the N95 is ON PAR with the P990 - which the P990 is just so elegant! I fear its replacement will not be as esquisite!

But we'll see.

macjasp, nothing against you n95 choice, its a truly great and powerfull machine for people that like a smartphone with only a normal phone keypad has choice of input

but, i wonder why you say google mail app did not work on your P990...i use it everyday, there´s no problem at all with it.

@kalu

I've bought it from e2save on an orange contract for £199 - i've been told (not sure how true it is) that e2save always provide unbranded phones on new contract deals...let's hope so! It also comes with 3 years GPS subscription free and a universal in car holder for the GPS, not a bad deal i thought (providing it is SIM free!)

@ares
the google mail app doesn't work in flip closed mode, the assigned menu buttons don't work, the menu button acts as refresh and the refresh button does nothing!, yet the same app works perfectly on my g/f's k800i!

don't get me wrong the P990i is a great phone, i just feel it's been surpassed already, particularly by the new N and E series phones and even more so when apple's iphone appears, i really don't think the P990 will have a long lifespan, they will surely replace it to keep up with Nokia at some point this year

I had a blast with my CEO's E61 and (apart from size), it was a fine device and the best Nokia S60 phone i've used, it made me want to try them again, i used to have a 6680 and i hated it..how things have changed!

Just my personal opinion, mind you

Man, i respect your choice, i understand it, and i am not mistaking you with some, that would be insulting you

And now i understand your problem with gmail app...in fact what i do with gmail ap is that in FC mode i only read and delete messages. For writing emails, and other features, i have to open the flip, because like you said some things just don´t work on FC. But most of the time i just use it to read and delete, so most of the time i stay on FC

Listen you believe what ever you want but why not go through some of the Forums and actually read what people say or actually use the devices mentioned.

Everyone is free to buy and use what they want but one post from some one who has decided to go for a M600 and didn't like or get on with S60 3rd Edition is hardly conclusive proof is it. I also find this very hard to believe when recently it has been announced that various networks(that's the plural) are all working with NOKIA to customize S60 devices and I'm pretty sure Orange who buy the way are not the company they once were were included in that list.

One Orange shop where who knows what incentives they have to push those devices isn't conclusive either. Also have you any idea the ratio of S60 devices sold to UIQ3 because frankly that many people can't all be wrong or can they? But as i said if you want to believe SE are the greatest mobile phone manufacturer and offer there customers excellent/ if any customer support good luck. But check out All About Symbian or My Symbian and see what is said about the E90 and then maybe you'll know the difference.

i know you posted this at kalu but seen as he was referncing my post i feel inclined to respond:

when did i say i hated nokia? i have owned and used a 6680 for a year and a half and still like it - a hell of a lot more than nokia latest offerings

i also never said i believe sony ericsson to be the greatest mobile phone manufacturer - just that their phone provides me with the product that best fits my wants - i.e. compact, powerful, reasonably reliable, 3g, and a smartphone

i would loved to have bought an n-series but like i said all the ones ive tried simply didnt work properly, and all the ones i havent look utterly horrible - the n95 is the only one i actually like the look of, except its £600odd and i dont drive, so a gps is useless at the moment

theres tonnes of incentives to sell any phone at any mobile shop. i know for a fact that the guy in the shop would have got a tonne of commission from selling me a uiq3 device from the fact that he was basically jumping round the shop when i asked to see one. i could see one s60 device in the shop, which was the blck n70

and the very simple reason why series 60 sells more phones is that theres 3 uiq devices and about 25 s60. also uiq is very much targetted at powerusers ans business users, whereas s60 is targetted at the entire range of users from kids to businesspeople - so get yourself out of that one, it doesnt mean series 60 is better, just means nokia are desperate for sales

and i do regularly go through forums looking for peoples opinions, a lot of the time. however not everyones opinion is the same as mine, things written on forums can be untrue, and like someone has already said - there are more people willing to post about bad things than good

Sorry but where have i said you hated Nokia either? all i said was you didn't like or get on with S60 which is what you have your self said and i don't have a problem with that either it's your money to spend how you like, I have never said you have to love and use S60 have I.

As far you saying

"whereas s60 is targeted at the entire range of users from kids to businesspeople"

Really are you sure about this as S60 is Symbian smart phone so what kids are these targeted at then? As they are not cheap phones are they? as for Nokia are desperate for sales you really can't be serious. They have a large range to target all sectors of the market and at different price points but after all that's what there in business for to sell phones so it's hardly surprising now is it. Also are not SE doing exactly the same with lots of devices at different price points to gain as many users as possible. If you want a M600 get one no one is stopping you just as if you don't want or like Nokia S60 don't get one.

marc,

sorry if i misunderstood but that is what it came across to me as

when i mentioned the vast range of s60 devices, i was referring to series 60 in general and the devices like the 3650, which was much cheaper than many smartphones

se are now beginning to do the same, yes, but in my opinion not quite as badly yet. and once again, i never said i didnt like nokia or s60, just that the ones i have tried recently havent been all that useful - i still use a s60 nokia. i also never said there was anyone stopping me from buying an m600

Hi Andrew,

No problem as i i have said many times what each of us chooses is right for them and what they want to do, there really is no right choice for everyone. I have a N93 that does everything i want in one big package it suits my requirements perfectly. I totally accept that not everyone likes this device or would wish to own one for what ever reason they choose which is fine by me.

I had a M600 with the 3rd firmware and i hated it, as i found it really slow to navigate around also it takes ages to do anything even opening e-mail, Callender etc etc IMO so i sold it. If you feel that the M600 suits your needs again i don't have a problem with that why should I? it's your device, your money and your choice.

I seem to be accused of lots of things that are IMO unfounded and is usually a case of the pot calling the kettle black. I am also accused of keeping contradicting himself, making false statements and of course insulting people, funny how insulting me is OK though.

It is not my aim or mission to get every one to buy Nokia either contrary to popular belief why would I? I own no shares and don't work for them what would i have to gain?. What i do believe though is if a manufacturer any manufacturer releases a product their customers deserve to get what they pay for. If not they should take the manufacturer to task over their actions radical or what!!
