when you want to enter the numbers, do you press the whole button, or just rock it left or right?
tnx all for the comments!

first you press alt and then left or right on that key. you need to press each time alt to type a number. or you can press twice alt and you activate number mode. twice alt again, and it's deactivated

It depends on the context - eg if you're just in the standby screen, or the dialling ("phone") screen, then you just hit the buttons and they act like normal number keys. It's only when you're entering text (eg in an SMS, or in a text field in Opera) that you have to use the "ALT" key to switch back and forth between number/letter mode.

well i had this phone for less than a week, and i like the keybord(dont love it yet) , and the text prediction is amazing.... i like the handrwriting recognition more than the keypad at the moment, it is amazingly accurate

I made the switch to m600 from a p990. To be honest, I'm beginning to feel the M600 keyboard is a lot easier than the p990's. That one is small and cluttered, but the keys on the m600 are spread nicely and give comfort.
I was a bit thrown back by the calculator look of the m600 (the p990 being really beautiful), but it's grown on me since.
As a side issue, memory management in m600 is much better. That's priceless. I also noticed longer battery life.

heh! i just noticed that the M600 and the P700 have the space (separator sign) on the "0" key! thats different from other sony ericsson phones, and as most of you know, thats where the nokia phones keep their key!
off course they put space key in the 0 key, cause it's exactly in the middle-bottom of the keypad. as you can see, the usual qwerty keyboard also put the space key in the middle-bottom. If you notice, the 0 key is longer than other key just like space key in usual qwerty keyboard.

I got on well with the M600i keypad, more so than the W950i when I swapped to it.
Definitely a keypad for use by someone who send lots of emails and text messages.
