When i had my W800 i didnt have too many problems with its joystick, but wen i got my W900 the d-pad is SOOO much beta, i have to say W900 d-pad is the best pad
SE eva made! its so spacious even wen i use my frends W810 d-pad i have a hard time coz im so used to my W900 one,i wish SE made more d-pads like the one on the W900 lol

I do prefer a joystick, but they really are are more trouble than they are worth.
I've had a T86i, T610, K700, W800 and the K800. I never had problems till my W800 and K800 and quite frankly its a big problem. My mum had trouble with her K700 as well.
It too much of a well known fault for something not to be done about it. Theres more people with the problem than there is than those without.

cotton buds does the trick for me. just push it in, move it in circles around a bit, and there you go.
as for joysticks, i think they provide greater accuracy and faster response than D-pads. hardware or software issue alike, i don't have much problem with my joystick phones (T610, K700, K600, K800) as yet. hoping to keep it that way.
i'd rather prefer scroll balls to D-pads anyway, if SE had to forego the joystick. takes up less space on the surface, and provides very fast response.

Personally I always loved the side scroll wheel on Blackberries. It's clickable as well. Combined with a simple back/escape button it was almost perfect for me. Takes some getting used to but once you've got the hang of it you can work very fast. Plus they're durable as heck.

Didnt the p series use scroll wheel? Cant say i ever had a real issue with my t610's joystick. Unless one counts it starting to not always register when pushing left in the end. Must be all the sms. As for scroll balls. Didnt blackberry introduce a model named pearl? Hell, i wonder why they are not used more on laptops. I recall reading that the first apple laptop had one. I find those pads annoying for some reason...

However games like a kung Fu game showed its major flaw!
Dpad Flaws:
Under extreme & continuous usuage over short time (say 30mins/day over 6months) then you'll SERIOUSLY begin to hear the shell of your phone creak! This is a minute reason why I had to part with my W810 - something I do regret.
How stiff is a brand new K790a's jostick upon first usuage? Gaming on the K750i was effortless.
SE CAN make qaulity joystick phones, and I WANT them to BRING IT BACK FULL TIME!
What say you all to a device like the BB Pearl with a pearl ball? Gaming will be limited but incredible navigation speed though multiple icons.
But I think the BEST solution, especially for THIN phones, SE to release a pseudo joystick like that on the PSP.
