Personally I don't like led lights flashing all the time but do admit they are useful so at the bottom is out of the way and but still useful.
On the desk its the bottom facing you anyway and in your pocket it would easy for quick checks if you put the phone in upside down.
I think i'd like it there.

Yup - the green light is at the bottom.
I found it great on Friday when I was out in the rain. Kept the fone in my pocket (bottom side up) and it meant I didn't have to take it out to check for messages.
Good placement for when the phone is on charge and just flat on the desk, as opposed to in the cradle.

As i can see the P1i has improvements over the P990i and a lot over the M600.
Is the P1 a P990i successor or a M600 ?

I've just updated my W950i and P990i to latest firmware (WorldWide Generic), so I'll time each tonight and post up the results.
