prom1, I don't know if it matters that the iphone has osx "full blown". You can't install osx apps, only widgets. The widgets platform is highly propietary and generally planned to be more network provider orientated. Even Java, let alone WM or symbian app support, will be far more extensive than the Apple Widgets.

If people thought SE preparedness of UIQ3 apps was poor on release of UIQ3, just wait till the iphone comes out. 3rd party developer support is poor, and expensive and proprietary. There will be not be a large range of freeware apps evolve as with WM, Symbian and Java.

Xbox has Windows XP on it, but you can't interface or install Windows XP apps as you can on a pc (unless you hack a real version of xp onto it, but out of the box, nothing). iphone is the same idea but on a phone. It's a highly proprietary system, not the relatively open OS that runs on apple mac computers.

There are some innovative aspects to the iphone design (example the touchscren), and yes it has itunes integration. D2P is undoubtedly crap, but not everyone uses the itunes music library for music. Using Windows Media Player 11 you can synch music to the memory on an SE phone using a usb cable connection - if you use mp3 codec, or if you prefer aac (as I do)you can use itunes organise music folder feature to drag and drop the itunes music folders directly onto the memory stick. In real terms, the lack of itunes synchronisation is not a show stopper or even an impediment to music synchronisation.
