well if it can sort by id tag properly, then you can use the "album" tag to set the "style", then sort by "album", which will then sort music by the style you like. In effect creating your own "albums".

But it's still not really an ideal solution

yep. It's only costs to download songs form itunes store, but I never use itunes store because 1. Idon't own an ipod, and 2 I don't want to

But itunes is useful for somethings like editing id tags. Butif you like to use a different program to play music, just make sure when installing that you don't replace file associations with itunes.

you can get itunes from www.apple.com (select the PC version)

why don't you simply use windows media player to edit the id tags if artist, album, title etc. is all you need to change. Makes no sense to install another bloated software!

Not sure what all this tags thing is, i mean how do i change it. For instance if i have 5 dance tracks and 5 house tracks how do i do it so it puts them in 2 separate folders???

itunes is far less "bloated" than windows media player. Anyway, it's true you can edit id tags, unless you encode in AAC, which WMP doesn't support. Otherwise I'd use it myself, since I have it anyway for playing windows media.

id tags are information stored in the sound file itself about artist, songname and album (and other stuff)

In itunes, by clicking on the name of either of those categories you can edit them. You can also get id tag editing freeware if you don't like itunes. Or use WMP if you use MP3's.

Once you have correct id tag info, then in the walkman you have an option to sort by artist or album. If you have entered "house" in the "album" field of a bunch of songs, then when you sort by album you will get a list of songs with all the house music bunched together.

I don't know how it works on the W810, but on my K800, it's possible to create playlists. When you add files to a playlist, you enter a file browser, and if you have put your mp3 files into separate folders for different artists or music styles, you can mark an entire folder (by checking the folder icon itself and not the files within it) to add its contents to the playlist.
