sorry, but I totally disagree with that last statement. I have a pc and broadband at home and do not expect my mobile phone provider to supply that, but whilst away from home ie "mobile" I use my mobile phone instead, now if T-Mobile are capable of offering me a very good service of unlimited full browsing for £7.50/month why can't vodafone? as soon as my contract is up for renewal I will be cancelling with vodafone as their charges are extortionate!

Approx how long are you ever away from your home broadband? I would understand if people are away from a computer internet connection for like weeks or even months, and then yes you may have to rely on your mobile devic as the sole mobile internet provider. But how many of us are always away from a computer and do not have access to the internet via a PC?? I doubt their are many.
I am not a vodafone customer, however why are t mobile able to offer this service and vodafone not? Could be many factors why that could be the case, maybe vodafone did a survey or research of some such and asked people how they would want a mobile data service, and maybe the new service is the result of customer feedback?
in my honest i wont be surprised if t mobile are making some sort of loss on der web and walk service, by offering soo much data allowance for that price, they seem to have jumped on the same bandwagon that carphonewarehouse did, by offering free broadband and suffered a loss, where as, even though the web and walk service is not free, i am sure with the ammount of people going on that service, and the data people are using, they are making some sort of loss and are reccouping the cost, by high call charges on der tariffs, and other extra charges.

I am away from my pc 10 hours a day. I have my mobile set to retrieve e-mail from 5 accounts every 15mins and use to internet to do banking, orering of materials etc.
I am a Vodafone, O2 and T-Mobile customer and Vodafone are by far the most expensive, calls and all! once you expend your allowance that's it expect a big bill!
out of curiosity how many MB are there in 1GB?
EDIT: based on 1024mb/gb it would cost you £1815.50 with Vodafone as oppose to £7.50 wit T-Mobile, am I missing something here or is it just me that thinks Vodafone are still charging too much!

@Mr Miyagi,
Sorry but i just think you are wrong on just so many levels it is untrue, maybe if it was just T-Mobile your case may be more justified but it isn't both 3 and even Orange have plans of a similar nature just not Voda or 02.
As for T-Mobile losing money by doing this i think you will find it is the opposite it was a bold move by T-Mobile and IMO it was very clever one. All the Networks paid vast amounts of money for their 3G licenses and some how believed that Video calling was going to be big, which by the way it isn't not even close. So T-Mobile where the first to realise that they had these new Networks with huge amounts of bandwidth and capacity that was not being used and not only that but it was costing them money to run it and was not generating any revenue. So by launching Web N Walk they gained income from customers and also attracted the other Networks customers to them. I and many others i know have all only joined T-Mobile because of their Web N Walk tariffs. This is the only reason that 3 and Orange have matched these tariffs to stop churn and hold on to their customers and join T-Mobile in taking Voda's and 02's dissatisfied users.
How you can seriously think getting a tenth of the data allowance is good value is completely beyond me and your point of how long are you away from your home broadband is just ridiculous it is called Mobile Data and for when you are not at home. I think you will find most people are at home less time per day than away from it.
If Super hadn't made claims of how much better than all the other offerings and implied some secret he couldn't tell us no one would of thought much of it as these tariffs were announced for launch quite some time ago and written off as pretty unimpressive even then. To claim compressing pages and some tie ups increase the value to this degree is just not based in fact and besides you and Super I don't see anyone else so far agreeing.
It is not a true opening up of the whole Internet it is merely and extension to VodaFone Live and which ever way you want to look at it compressed pages or not the allowances are much smaller than are offered by others for the same price and that in my books makes it more expensive. If you go over 120mb it is going to cost you £2mb and give you a nice big surprise bill. Also this is if you are a contract customer if you are a pay as you go customer it is £2per MB compared to with T-Mobile £1 a day max how can that be considered competitive then please tell me as i really can't see it.
In MO it is cheap marketing and much too little much to late which is backed up by the fact that even prior to going Live Voda are already working on new tariffs if it was so good why would they even feel the need to do this it would make no sense would it?
Marc

tbh honest ive been using it all day (on a staff plan so dont get charged data rates) and im pretty unimpressed by it. the rendering engine that they use to scale web pages is buggy at best, if im being honest its down right crap.
also the access that you have to ebay, myspace, youtube through vmi homepage is so watered down its not even worth bothering. best bet would to get opera and access the websites you want directly.

I used to have a Vodafone contract and everything about their charges is confusing and expensive. I used to have huge bills with data usage and the browsing included messages and pictures so was not clear how much you had used and spent. Plus i always found even with their 3G it was always so slow and calls were always getting cut off so they charge the earth for a network which is supposed to be the biggest in the world and underperforms. Awful network.
