as sad as it is to hear that, thats probably a correct assessment(w960 ftw)
perhaps as se gains marketshare they'll be more confidant to release an all in one product, but its probably gonna be atleast 2 years before that happens
i'd like to see it, as se has some very nicely designed phones(body and ui)

Sorry, gotta continue in another post as I'm using Opera Mini and there's a text limit. Anyway, @en0203, as you've mentioned, you do not need a nice media player, but would prefer to have MegaBass. I believe most people think the same way, so it makes business sense to use MegaBass as one of the ways to differentiate their products. Of course, if you ask me, I'd like to have everything in one device, and I'm sure most people want that, isn't it?
Hi deluded,
I was thinking to stop replying this thread but it seems rude not to reply yours because you are one of the only few with constructive replies
I see that you also like to have everything in one device. Like what shaliron has mentioned, it takes virtually $0 cost to add in megabass setting for the phone and yet SE purposely left it out. This is what worries me because it shows the determination of SE to go divergence. And in order to stay with SE I'll have to compromise on either camera or sound
It makes business sense to have the customers to buy two products from them, but on the other hands I think they are also driving away potential customers who want the best of both world. I think we all deserve a better choice here. SE should give megabass to the k series users and autofocus to W series users. I am sure if they proceed this way they'll bring back many of old SE die-hearts. Having said that, I wonder SE is already aware of the fact that many SE fans left SE in this forums just because they can't have the best of both world. Just look at the excitement ppl have over W960i when they found autofocus in the camera. I am sure another group on k850i will be excited too if they see megabass in it

K850 is just about as maximum convergence you'll get in an affordable price. W960 is what you get at a hefty price.
Hi QVGA,
It looks like k850i will still carry a high price tag at launch. And as mentioned above, we don't see any addition in production cost if they were to add in the megabass setting in it but was purposely left out
nevertheless k850i is still a wonderful phone to have and I am still torn between k850i and w960i. I'll have to decide whether to ditch megabass sound or 5 megapix camera because there is no such thing as 'convergence' yet in SE. I would say my good old k750i and my fren's good old w800i were both 'convergence' device though because both have same sound and same camera capabilities at that point of time. And actually that's the last all-in-one device SE made after which they started to split their technology into 2

Hi drakkor,
yea, I really can't wait to see an all in one product from SE again, something that carries the walkman+cybershot branding. but until then I think we can continue to dream on judging from SE's path forward now
By the way, It's good to see more and more constructive posts now rather than the SE vs Nokia crap. Thank you all for your wonderful replies and I sincerely hope that SE is monitoring as well

The manual equalizer settings on the phone will give your best "megabass", cos YOU customized it, not SE customize the output quality for you.

Hi tai020381,
actually I have tried different setting on that before but I just can't get close to megabass's sound. Somehow the Megabass setting gives a better depth to the music with wider stereo experience. I don't know how to explain the sound it but it's just different

This is just a re-writtern thread, wasting space on forums. We have had are discussion about this topic about 8 times this month whats the point of a new one? We have had the new phones, and already people are moaning about them before the release. En203 no offense but why didnt you open this thread when people actualy have had expiriance with the new phones, not critiscising them before the release. Then again, if you did open this thread up in that time, there proberly would have been fanboys who had open up another 7 threads.
Mods should really lock the thread, and we should prais or critiscise when the phones are released, not before hand.
You say you want somthing convergence, how de we know the k850 hasnt got the things you want. This thread is meaningless if you look at the w960, that really is the best of both worlds. You should have thought about these aspects before opening the thread.

Although the thread above is locked, it is virtualy the same as your thread, with 32 pages of info, writtern mostly by the most intelectual esato members, so all your questions should be answerd there.

@kingbooker,
According to en203, this thread is about se convergence vs se features separated such as megabass and se camera af separated.
It is not about se vs nokia. All those threads were opened by yourself.
Personally, I'd don't see the need for se to separate features. Let the customer buy the se product they want.

I only opened 1 direct SE vs nokia thread, others were series vs series, e.g w vs k, just fanboys, overtook it.
If you read the beggining of the SE failing good phone thread, I was comparing the K to the W, cam and media player.
What im saying is, this thread is almost identical to that one, and theres always a fan boy whos about to say, that nokia are the best brand hands down, then you get SE vs nokia, thats all im saying
Seperate features, have you seen the k850 media player? That rules over walkman 2.0 any day of the week
