Not had a problem with the phone since this happened but I've got a replacement battery now cos I didn't want the same thing to happen again.
Still no reply from
about the problem though

@staz - If the problem persists . .. it's NOT the battery that's the culprit anymore matey . . . it's the fone

It could be anything - battery, phone hardware or phone firmware. I have had same problem with my Z800i - SE replaced the battery under warranty. My wife's K610 had the same problem but SE did not find any fault either with the battery or with the phone. Anyway it is working fine now without doing anything. And P990i had similar problem - not as hot as in previous two cases - now it is normal as per P990i standard.
Firmware also plays a role for overheating or over discharging the battery. My Z800i sometimes has 50% of normal standby time and sometimes returns to its normal standby time. Usually, if I use the phone in 3G mode even for few minutes and reset the phone to GSM only mode then phone starts to drain battery faster. Then by changing to certain themes for a while and back to original theme it may return to normal. Same thing happens with certain themes and changing back to original theme may not return the battery life to normal.

Well. It happened again last night. Have swapped to my spare battery which was made in 06W38 and I know there aren't any problems with that one.
The battery that came with my K810 was an 07W10 so I wonder if there are a dodgy/faulty batch going around

I've now used the spare battery (same model but made in 2006) for just over a week now and no problems whatsoever so it must be the original battery which is faulty.
I've now bought a new battery from the
internet store to go in my K810. Will see how that goes when its delivered.

Now, I'm puzzled why a NEW batt (from the BOX) is defective at that

Couldn't have been replaced Jojo. I had the phone new and untouched. The battery was still sealed in its bag when I got home and opened the box so it hadn't been used before until I put it in the K810.
I think there's a faulty batch out there.

I bought my K810 from Carphone Warehouse as a sim free (no contract). Their policy is that sim free handsets are excluded from their 14 day returns and they will not deal with any problem that occurs with the handset.
If it happens again with this new battery (which has cost me £34 inc delivery from
) then I'll be contacting
direct as the phone should have a manufacturers warranty.
