thanks for pointing it out that LHR (Heathrow) is owned by BAA, not BA. But still I hear that LHR is the worst among London airports in losing luggage, probably due to the large amount of BA flights there.

Heatrow is the worlds busiest airport (afaik) so it is natural that it will lose the most luggage. This is no excuse though as no luggage should be lost anywhere.

Awful.... BA have recently been voted the worst airline in Europe and of course, last week, were fined over £300 million for prcie fixing (or attemtping to price fix, with Virgin).
Can there be two worse indicators of BA's contempt for passengers than price fixing and losing customer's luggage.
Shameful!
...Good luck getting your bag back, hope works all out OK.

P.S. Write in and complain.

@Wuz

British Airways isn't responsible for transferring the luggage so it wasn't their fault really. Like JC said, the baggage handlers are not employed by BA but by The BAA.

...and yet the industry publishes a standards table relating to lost luggage, inwhich BA finds itself at the bottom.
Why, if the lost baggage situation is outside BA's control, as you suggest, does such a table exist and why are there such differences in levels of luggage lost between the different airlines?

But as pointed out Heathrow if not the the busiest is one of the busiest Airports in the World BA have it's own Terminal and more fights in and out of Heathrow. All baggage at Heathrow is handled and controlled by the BAA so if they are rubbish BA gets tarred with the same brush. Who evers fault it is doesn't really matter is shouldn't happen but then we live in a far from perfect world where all sorts of things happen that shouldn't. But stop bashing BA if you don't like them don't use them, but if you fly into Heathrow it really doesn't matter which Airline you use it will be the same baggage handlers I'm afraid.

So today I called and this guy called Gerald in the USA baggage claim center told me they found my last bag and is being shipped to Los Angeles from London directly on today's flight.

But this is a complete lie.

We called more throughout the day for more info and every time we called there are different information. One guy (called Chris, who sounded like a drunken frat boy with a perennial nasal congestion) even told us that all 4 bags are delivered to us in LA on July 30. Problem is that 3 of the 4 bags were delivered to us in London on July 17, not LA, no July 30 and no all 4 bags.

Lies and lies and lies. What exactly do they get out of it by lying? And to get our hopes up and crash it like a dying ant. Calling BA is like worse than talking to lawyers, lies are created for no reason at all.

You can argue its the handlers at the airport misplacing the bags. But the call center is hired and operated by BA, you can't argue that. And it's BA's pilot who decided to fly off, knowing that 89 luggage weren't loaded on board. BA is more than 90% at fault.
