There was a time when SE phones had the very best of the technology of the day in one handset. AKA T610, K700. Then they started to part ways with W800 and K750, which while identical hardware had software that differed in key areas. Walkman player and flightmode on one, Activity menu on the other. What a proposterous choice to give the end user! With the K800, the media player is missing basic functions (such as sort by date added) that are standard on walkman players. Fortunately the actual audio quality is still good (even better with modded drivers).

Butit's a shame the SE have taken this tack. I don't mind that they have differentiated the lines, but there should be a leading model that bridges the walkman and cybershot brands and has both the best camera and the best walkman gui.

Not all SE phones have good camera's... It's the same for all brands.

But those that do have the best ones on the market.

see gsmarena yourself by your eyes!!
I did! and i belive in my eys! but not Gsmarena!
see the pics, K850 is better than N95. at least you can see more details in the pics ( see more the ground and sands! )

See the product that comes first, second are good from sony are really good. isnt that.

k750i, W810i are the best 2.0 megapixel camera phones.

and k550i, w610i, k610i, w580i, w850i, w830i are way inferior to this. but they have some extra features. in them. right.

This is because they have control the production cost.

Even take the case of 3.2 megapixel cameras k790i/k800/k810i are the best phone of that class.

Say t650i, k770i are just inferior to this, this is marketing strategy.

it's not just marketing strategy. For example K850 has dual card support, that is gonna add to the cost of production. Only a little, but when you add up all the little improvements from one model to the next, it actually adds up to a more expensive phone. I agree marketing is the cause of the stupid lack of walkman 2 player in cybershot, that's just marketing but imho the fact K610 has no autfocus for example, is because it's cheaper to make it without. Also no active lense cover, no light, and bidda boom bida bang cheaper handset.

So it's not all about marketing. It's more expensive to produce the leading edge models, so they would want to sell these at a premium. Branding can also help differentiate the model to make the higher price seem more worthwhile in the eyes of fickle consumers.
