My p1 has given me complete silence-satisfaction. At this moment litteraly perfect phone that handles all my needs.

Seems like people here have forgotten about the main topic here and i can't see a good answer for the query here except the first reply made imho

The author asks questions about P1 before getting it as an upgrade but people here have expressed all their griefs about UIQ 3.

Funny, 'cause there's no freezing, restarting or rapid battery drain on my P1i. It has frozen once, but this was due to a 3rd party program. Did ya ever stop to consider maybe your particular phone is faulty, or you installed some buggy apps?

I sold my E90 too as it was too big and too heavy for me. I use bb connect, so the N series aint for me (pity). I tried using the 8800 but it doesn't have wifi and no fm radio. So, for me, the P1i is the best bet at present.

I have had both P990i and P1i and got rid of both.

UIQ3 is bady put together with bad ergonomics and some pretty nasty bugs which seem still to be in the P1i.

The green camera tint issue is still there and SE are doing nothing about it, and the headset / bluetooth multimedia volume is about half as loud as previous models.

I have gone back to the P910i several times now as nothing beats it for reliability, music quality and ergonomics.

The main P1i issues are freezing, restarting, very unstable camera app and rapid battery drain. If you are happy to live with that then go ahead by all means. Oh .... and the camera really is very bad quality indeed!

And ... P.S. If you like remoteP800, there is only one replacement which is imageexpo - it costs about £60 (not joking) and it is nowhere near as good. It does work, but the quality on the PC screen is not as good and there are no popups either.

Can only say that I never experienced any of these things... Ofcourse the camera's green tint is an issue but it's been acknowledged by SE and said to be addressed in the next firmware.

About the crashes, freezes, draining... noticed not any of those. Phone has been pretty much rock stable these months. (Don't have any issues with bluetooth headset volume either).

I do have a problem though, the internal speaker is not good so I have to send it back and get it fixed which is sucky but well... things happen. My previous N73 also had issues (popport not working well with headset), it's technology after all.

All in all, a very nice phone... Far from perfect (mainly a faster cpu would be nice) but very nice anyway.

Hi,

Just wanted to let you all know that I did get the P1i.

Overall, am happy. I bought it like 1 month back and overall, I am satisfied. It has already crashed a few times already, more than my p910.

I would recommend the phone to someone who is new to the p series but not to one who had a p910 previously.

Fair comment, the P1i is probably good enough in it's own right but not as good as the P910i.

Hi all,

To all of you who's P1 are fine great but just like the P990 saga it seems that not all p1's are the same, some are fine maybe even perfect but for others it is a very different story. Don't believe me well just read the threads and posts on this forum from fellow P1 users who don't share your great experience. As to why or how this happens i have no idea but it defiantly is happening these people are not imagining it.

A great example of this is poor Makbil who whilst he wanted to see certain issues addressed in the P990 was overall very happy with it. He had no stability issues and could even get 18 days up time. Unfortunately it failed and needed replacing the unit he got exhibited all the problems that Kradcliffe experienced with his P990 so now he understands what Kradcliffe had to endure and his view point.

This even happens with Nokia so SE is not alone here i had a N93 and mine from day one was stable, the two firmware upgrades just increased it's performance for me. For others even with the new firmware they still had problems how can this be the same devices running the same firmware yet a totally different user experience. Again exactly the same situation arises with the N73 and N95 for some users it is problem free for others not.

IMO the real problem is this all manufacturers can get away with releasing not finished products because we the consumer accept them as such and will await a firmware to fix things. Maybe if and when we refused and returned them they would return to proper testing and making sure devices are fit to launch before doing so. But as long as we the consumers accept it nothing is going to change because as long as we are eager to give them our money they of course will take it.

Marc

I'm really getting into the feeling that most problems are either manufacturing problems (low cost/quality parts) that create unstable machines (depends on how lucky you are)...

OR / AND

... after a firmware update, when people make a backup Restore, in some cases corrupt data & bugs are restored, that makes the phone unstable again.

I think that probably accounts for a lot of problems...

My own M600i originally came with the awful Vodafone-branded firmware (first release) which was very poor... eventually, using Kulankendi, I updated it to World Generic - I forget which version, but it was one that virtually everyone was saying was very stable etc. Everything seemed to go absolutely fine with the update, and I didn't try and restore any settings, but I soon found afterwards that my phone was now deeply unstable - it might work fine for a day or two, but it crashed and froze pretty randomly, and did various odd things. I complained bitterly on here that the firmware was bad, that the M600i was no good, what were SE playing at, etc etc...

Eventually, various patient people here convinced me it was a bad flash and I should try the update again. I found this really hard to believe, as I couldn't understand how the phone could work at all if the flash hadn't worked okay the first time, but I ran it again and sure enough, the phone's been 100% stable ever since. I've become a big fan of it, in fact - so what was once a complete lemon has actually become a very praiseworthy unit, without my even needing to exchange it!
