I've never experienced any problems with taking photos at the sun.
I think mobile phones can easily cope with this.

I dont know if phones are the same, but i no someone focused on the sun with a DSLR, nd like a magnifying glass, the sun focused on his sensor nd burnt it, damaging it badly, luckily it was still within the warranty.

Hi guys, I wonder if my i-mobile 902 camera lens will be damaged, because my friend took a photo of the Sun with it today, and it was directly pointed at the Sun, 17:09. The phone doesn't have an optical zoom lens, but it has CCD lens. So I'm not sire if the lens will be damaged. i haven't noticed any differences so far.

when the lense cover is open, the cmos sensor is fully exposed to the sun even if you are not taking a photo. for example if the camera was lying on a table with the lense over open and happen to be pointing directly at the sun, the cmos is soaking up the suns rays. Even if the camera app is closed.
And I doubt such an easy mistake would kill the cmos sensor.
I think it's fine.

Why your image got overexposed was because that's the disadvantage of a CCD sensor. it has far more light sensitivity than a CMOS sensor given the excessive brightness the sun gives to your cam sensor. and this is where K850 overpowers 902's Camera
another fact was that 902 makers haven't got enough Imaging IQ to match Sony's decade experiences in Cameras that's why if the 902's sample shots were compared against older SONY cybershots with fixed AF lens i.e. u60/u50 or u40 the images wont be as overexposed as your sample shows
