fine and when does it switch to /2 ?

as soon as i add a non standard ems image but it defo doesn't do it with special characters or maths symbols. i've checked my k800 and while some of these do some still don't. even tabs and formatting don't make a difference but this did used to on my 700 oddly enough.

Hi

No disrespect but I've been using a mobile a number of years and it definitely doesn't jump up a message!

It stays on 1/1, 2/1, 3/1 etc no matter which of the characters I write, type from the hardware or software keyboard.

Yes it will show 1/1, 2/1, 3/1 because no matter what characters you use it will be shorter than 1 SMS if you have only typed 3 characters. It is when you reach 70 characters or more (like myth pointed out) that you will be able to see the difference between using all 'normal' characters compared to using any 'special' characters.

@sunking101
Did you ever manage to reproduce this problem on your phone?

@pnoytechie

How many characters did u type ?

You have to type at least 70 characters, as mentioned earlier.

Then type one of those characters which are shown in my earlier post.

hi!
I have found that my P1 sometimes bumps up the message count for no reason at all! Sometimes even after just 30 characters! if I retype the text then it often behaves normally again!

Aha, this might be the problem then - a random glitch.

I'm confused..

so you typed a 600 word sms. (150*4) and the p1i sent 9 text messages and the 6230i sent 4. is that correct?

or did the p1i tell you it was going to send 9 messages?

what did it actually send out to the receiving phone?

Well, that I don't know - I didn't send it! The P1i told me it was going to send 9 texts...
Still, it's not much help is it? If you don't know where you stand when sending texts. I've always gone back and amended a text if I'm just a few characters over (ie into the next text) but how can you know with the P1i if it's accurate or not?

You'll notice when typing that suddenly your 50 characters equal 4 SMS's... It doesn't just happen when you send. I find that if I clear the message and retype, it goes back to normal...
