once again...SO ?
one of N95 big misstakes is the battery lifetime...
just take a look how many N95 owners who is angry on Nokia because of theirs battery lifetime........you know why ?..............because Nokia "told/wrote" that N95 had MUCH longer battery lifetime then it really had...

I am satisfied with my n95 battery life. It gives me 2 days on moderate to heavy use (except wifi + gps). I doubt the P1i or P990 (or any smartphone)can achieve much better than this. I bet the only owners who complained are those who came from a non-smartphone.

back to the topic...
it's great to know that SE will have a GPS-integrated phone....
but for some people wo do not live in GPS enabled area, it'd be a waste....
so if K850 doesnt have GPS while let say K860 have.
it makes sense cause some people don't buy unused feature....

Itīs normal that with advanced features (wifi and gps) battery lasts a lot less but nevertheless itīs important to wait for low consumption chips and not being the first just to pop a feature.
Itīs nice to see N95 lasts 2 days but itīs something like "operating vs. idle". Everyone wants phones that talking/sms/playing/mp3 last 2-3 days (at least) and not one phone that on idle lasts 1 month and working half a day.
N95 with 12h of wifi & GPS should last (from 100% battery) at least 1 full day with a single charge. This is valid for future SE with GPS & WiFi.

i really really HOPE that

dont do the same misstake like Nokia and make phones with build in GPS (like N95).... Nicklas Sivander (one of the leading Design people on

) explained why example P1 dosent have build in GPS....one word...battery time........i would never want a phone (like N95) who have so bad battery time, to just have build in GPS....
if you want a GPS.... buy a real one. (we have a "real" GPS on our boat, you cant compare a real GPS with ex a N95.....
(N95 gps are so much slower, etc, etc).
1 MUST be VERY careful to quote that just for one phone to include a new technology for it will consume too much battery life for ALL phones. I agree N95 is a prime example.
However I can quote 2 phones that are Java OS based and have GPS included. well 3 actually. Blackberry 8800 (GPS), 8820 (GPS+WiFi), 8830 (GPS + CDMA+Euro GSM), 8310 (Curve model with GPS). ALL of these phones have a standby of 3.5 days REAL world usuage and also have 4hrs talktime, along with 2hrs Full A-GPS (Maps downloaded in real-time but GPS is quick lockon directly by internal chip; much better than N95). I've used the 8800 & 8830 first hand so I KNOW.
Now also 1 MUST consider battery & Power consumption technologies along with normal usuage of technology. SE is amongst the BEST if not THE BEST in the business.
This new finding by the thread OP, specifically the "Operator Dependant" finding leads me to believe that the pending release of the Z750 for AT&T Wireless in the USA "may" have it. But I'm not betting on that one.

good point. N95 is this kind of phone. If you dont use the phone at all, it will last 3.5 days. It is not good at idle time at all but like u say who leave their phone idle. However, it can sustain moderate to heavy use for 1.5-2 days.
prom1
the bb has much bigger battery than n95. 8800 has a 1500mah whereas N95 has a 950. pound-for-pound, n95 battery life isnt so bad considering n95 has a fuller os than rim.

my p1 lasted me 2 days with moderate usage, and a good 3 days without browsing the web (it's power hungry), my w900 is just as good, if not better.
my 6110 is definetely much better than my n95, gps is so much more usable compared to n95 and e90, battery wise, it's the best among the 3. it's on par with p1.

Why would one want a GPS built into your phone? As said, it drains battery and it adds weight.
You could also buy a separate GPS dongle, it can be used with different phones too.

Well lets say your Phone gets stolen. Europe & Asia my block IMEI's but here in Canada the providers just don't care - only 1 real GSM provider anyway so their NOT gonna limit another $$ Flow into their coffers. GPS puck is BT connected after 30feet bye-bye phone. Built IN GPS with Software I can TRACK it all the way within 10metres, often times within 5feet accuracy. If I'm mobile I can FIND YOU! BEST BELIEVE that son if you steal a Blackberry 8800/8820/8830/8310 if its on a corporate environment then they'll find you.
MIB ... not sure what you mean by a FULLER OS on N95. Symbian I'm VERY well has many consumer apps and few business apps. We're talking about Blackberry here, and there are MANY apps - Business - apps for them that unless you work in the field I'm sure you may not be aware of. I can select over 5 apps to load an IBM3270/5620 MainFrame connection. Connect to the BES for REMOTE administration for COUNTLESS users & Contless push servers. I can remote into a server for graphical control not just a home PC. I can track my device over GPS software or even track my car if it has GPS via my BB unit. VoIP for SIP & UMA connections on specific models, corporate PBX & firewalls & various corporate standard encrypted VPN connections. Sometimes only available for remote connections from the same corporate vendor (CISCO, Nortel, SyBase, SAP db administration editing, Sales Force automation & ordering) ... its just mind boggling. So don't be so sure that the Blackberry OS is limited or non expandable nor mature. You'd have a rude awakening. Symbian is still better for the consumer market but the BB consumer market is growing at a much faster rate than Nokia's

.

IMHO, I don't think it is a bad idea to have a GPS receiver embedded in the phone. It is like having a Xenon-flash on it: it consumes a lot of power, but only when you use it. If you don't abuse of the flash, the battery holds well.
This is the same: I would use the GPS functionality esporadically (i.e. if I get lost, to annotate the place when I take a photograph, to remember a position for later retrieval or to locate nearby services) but I'd like to have the possibility of using it whenever I need without bringing another device always with me.
Even if I needed to leave it powered on because I wanted to use the navigation features for a long time, it would be probably while driving, so the phone can be connected to the car-battery...
Just my two cents...

We all know that the N95 has poor battery life. This is because Nokia stuffed it full of power hungry features and yet the battery can only do so much. Nokia no doubt figured that most people would rather accept the compromise than not have the features and, judging by the fact that so many people here have bought one, they guessed right.
Remember, this also happened with the K700i when 262K screen + Bluetooth + radio + animated themes etc... overtook battery technology in 2004. Perhaps

has learnt from the K700i episiode and is holding back. Who knows?
However, I'm surprised no-one has commented on the GPS accessory I posted about, considering (1) it's not been mentioned before and (2) it shows the direction

policy may be heading; ie: many

phones don't have a radio but a radio is available in several headset accessories.
Does anyone think this is a good road for

to take?
