Accidents happen for a reason, Sammy and Cyco are too fatalistic in their beliefs IMO.
Yeah AND ONE persons life IS worth more than any number of peoples right to light up in their car!!

Fair enough. So do you agree with banning talking to passengers or using hands free?

I agree with doing everything possible to make people safer and better drivers, individual laws can seem meaningless and petty, i understand that, but it's all about giving out the right signals.
Two members of my immediate family suffered major car crashes over the last ten years, my son walked away unscathed, but my partner was quite badly for a couple of years after her incident.
So excuse me if i have a bit of a bee under my bonnet in relation to this topic.

The new Highway code book states that if you are smoking while driving. The police can stop you if they have reason to suspect that you are driving eratically/dangerously.
Nowhere does it mention that it is banned (Yet)

then the following things that drivers do should be banned as well 1.talking to passengers 2. shaving/applying make-up 3.eating/drinking 4.changing clothes 5.having sex 6.fixing hair 7.listening to loud music. Ive seen ppl doing all the above while driving. those are alot more dangerous than me having a smoke while driving. better yet ban idiots from driving. problem solved.

a-hem, apart from talking with a fellow passenger, u r likely to be pulled over for any of the above while driving. eating and driving is deemed as dangerous driving and u could face a five year prison sentence.
pls remember that behind the wheel of a car u r in control of a lethal weapon when driving... and that some will have better control of that lethal weapon than others.

this is just madness. another pantomime government move in the Loopy EU.
what people forget is it doesnt take speed, smoking, eating, talking while driving to have an accident - all it takes is 2 bad drivers.
sorry but i cant see how anyone can agree that this new law isnt anything more than a waste of time and public money.
i wonder how much it cost to think and deploy this pathetic new rule.
