they appear to be (when put onto a phone) more like the "Generic Trade"
ones we had before .... the "customized UK blue" one has internet
settings for various UK providers e.g. t-mobile, O2, Vodafone.

I used one to generalise my k850i then FOTA'd to 037.

which firmware recommend do you suggest i use to debrand my phone darren? One which wont affect my network (by that i mean, i can still use the internet properly, and send mms/sms properly)

I can use the Australian Optus one, though it still has a little branding, optus internet icon on main screen and one in main menu. But they dont change the icons like voda do. but id prefer a full unbranded one...

so any suggestions?

The Generic one for Australia i can see on Davinci list is
K850i R1CA029 CID52 K850 1202-8494 CUSTOMIZED AU/BLUE APAC-ANZ

However that may not have settings for Optus, Some countries dont put them in, so you may either have to go on the SE site to have them sent to the phone or contact Optus, but im not 100%

At present i think you would have this one?
K850i R1CA029 CID52 K850 1202-0041 OPTUS AU/ BLUE APAC-ANZ

Is there a problem with the branding you currenlty have as you said Optus dont do much with the branding?

Dont forget that general if you debrand your phone im not sure if you invalidate the warranty in the country you live in, also if anything happens sometimes SE service centers dont always repair them, I have read many people on here having this problem although its normaly other countries

I have debranded mine on many occasions when i was on Orange as i hated the branding, but im now on O2 so Norm dont debrand any more as o2 only change on menu from play now to the o2 logo and i can live with that

Dont forget Drebranding is at your own risk, so please ensure you read and fully understand everything before going ahead if you want

I hope this helps

yeah im not fussed with the warranty issue, the service centre here never picks it up . I have the vodafone version, but i could change it to optus, though the phone which have Optus logo in menus as i said in previous post. But prefer full unbranded one, and not fussed if its not the new firmware, i can update later on on SEUS. Though do i have to change the CDA? Will SEUS change my phone back to Vodafone firmware if i dont change the cda as well?

If you debrand your phone using Davinci then the CDA changes with the brand, so updating your phone will only replace the software with the latest version and not vodafone or optus version.

Are your phones Sim Free in Australia?

by simfree you mean unlocked correct? Only 3 and Voda phones come locked, but can get the unlock code free from 3, just need to call them, and voda ones we just go online and enter the IMEI number and it gives the code.
Telstra and Optus have fairly similar branding to o2 over there, and come unlocked (contract phones only) ..... voda and 3 change the icons and put logos on the phone itself....

Thats Great, To unlock Orange, Voda, T-mobile and 3 in this country you have to pay.

Virgin will do it for free as long as you pay £30 credit onto your phone, 02 contract phones are sim free

This is what o2 branding is on the k850i

Which as you can see is nothing, Nothing else is changed all moved on the phone.

yeah thats how optus/telstra branding is (though telstra seem to be adding an internet shortcut button on the phone itself these days) its good to be in australia, id hate to pay for unlocking payg phones cost ot be unlocked, though once you have recharged to the amount of bout $80aud, you get the code free.

so darren, use the firmware you listed in one of your above posts?

You could have a look at Davinci site first

http://www1.davinciteam.com/K850/index.html

That might be more help to you as the info was from that site.
