I a have 3 bed semi @ national average price, just outside London.
£950 p/m mortgage
£136 p/m council tax
£100 p/m for travel
And then you got all the other expenses, for me around £500 p/m (although not all are necessary to live here). That’s just to live here without spending any on my own luxuries. Totals around: £1700 p/m to live here in the UK (for me).
I’d stay put or go somewhere else, besides the UK’s to full as it is.

So £2000 p/m is the amount that you should earn if you want to feel like you are living in London.
Isn't that expensive =)

Depending on where you live, you would need to earn about £20k at least to have a decent lifestyle, I reckon.
Per month? I earn more or less that a year!!!
If I earned that a month x 12 Ill be a director at a top company!!

If only we all could do what we want. If I wanted to move, I would go to sunny Californ-I-A!

I think anyone willing to go live abroad should better learn about the laws in that country they want to move to. That would make it a lot easier for the transition period to pass without problems.

@Kingbooker
That would be high up on my list of places to go too. Sacramento, LA, San Francisco? Sunshine? Surfing? The Pacific ocean? **sigh!**

@OffLineR
I'd say, if you're prepared to make the leap, go for it. There's nothing worse than never taking a risk - I'm sure you've thought about it carefully and because you say that you've already convinced yourself into it, you'll already know what's to come.
And if it doesn't work out, you're always able to go back
@goldenface
Come to Melbourne - best place on earth!
