I have the same problem that I can not sync my P1i. It seams like it is only the calendar that is the problem. If I sync contacts only it works ok!

When syncing the calendar it start and progresses to 6 green bars and then hangs. The CPU goes up to 100%. I am using XP and Outlook.
I tried and uninstalled, cleaned the registry as Nipsen suggested and then reinstalled. Still same problem... Any ideas?

I would back up the calendar and then start removing entries. In saw a thread on here about all day events crashing the sync on iMacs.

Something is throwing an error during the sync which is crashing the process, unfortunately its hard to say where.

Contacts is my main requirement, so i'm gonna uncheck the calendar sync, & see what that does. I'll let you know how i get on, in 6hrs or so

Thanks for sharing!

Excellent. Now, would you be interested in trying which sort of calender entries cause the problem?

If so I would suggest the following :-

1 - backup your calender
2 - delete everything in it
3 - create a entry
4 - try a sync

and repeat steps 3 and 4 creating each kind of entry allowed until it stops syncing.

THEN report it as a bug to SE. I would attempt this myself but I don't have outlook (or indeed anything) to sync with.

I really don't think it is, I think it is a SyncML problem with the PC Suite. Or SE's implementation of activesync, which ever it is that they use to sync the phone with outlook.

Either way, something in the calendar is causing the problem - after reading about the iSync plugin for Macs I'm wondering if its all day events, as this has caused problems for the syncing on macs.

You may try Oxygen Phone Manager for Symbian OS phones where Sony Ericsson P1i is supported. This is an alternative program.
